#7) Ed Orgeron

247Sports take: Orgeron is on the hottest seat in the SEC and he knows it. Like ex-Tigers coach Les Miles said earlier this week, there's always been a win-now championship mentality in Baton Rouge and there's no time for mediocre seasons by the program's elite standards. Fans (and the administration) wants to see LSU compete — and beat — Alabama on a regular basis, getting back to an annual spot inside the Top 10. Questions about an anemic offense have plagued this program in recent years, so what does Orgeron do? Hires Steve Ensminger as his play-caller, who runs a system similar to how the Tigers looked during the Miles era. For Orgeron's sake, hopefully Ohio State grad transfer quarterback Joe Burrow solves the Tigers' problems on that side of the football. If LSU wins less than eight games this fall, Orgeron is likely out and only has himself to blame.

Gonna be a huge season and will likely determine LSU’s direction for the next 5 years when you factor in the ‘19 Louisiana recruiting class.

It's a little cruel to post this and get the mob's hopes up.

I just don't see Alleva firing his guy and admitting he screwed up again even if it's a 6 or 7 win season. I personally don't think they will win less than 8, but we'll see.

I don’t think there’s a way in hell that Alleva fires him.

Joe knows his job is 100% dependent on O.

Orgeron loyalists are the only ones that think LSU fans are on different sides.

Everyone wants LSU to succeed. Some just don't think we have the guy in place to do that. Those that do think the other fans are against them. It's ridiculous.

He does? How does anyone know this? Much of our team wasn't even alive the last time he ran his own system.

Common sense would say Orgeron would be on the hot seat, and outsiders believe Orgeron is on the hot seat. However he isn’t really on the hot seat. People who follow LSU know things that outsiders don’t really know. Like how LSU expectations from the administration and BOS have dwindled and we no longer expect to compete for championships anymore if we have a tough schedule. Also most outsiders don’t know that we have the most incompetent AD in the country and he’s not gonna admit failure on Orgeron after year two.

So yea this writer has Orgeron on a hot seat, but it’s not true.

He could go 3-9 and Alleva isn’t going to fire him.

Barring a scandal, Alleva will never hire or fire another football coach at LSU. O will win or he will not. That will decide Joes future.

The same administration that hired Ogeron in the first place?

O's and easy choice for hottest seat in the SEC by default. Saban and Smart aren't going anywhere. A&M, Tenn., Florida, Miss. St., Ark. all have first year coaches. Muschamp and Malzahn did enough to keep the wolves at bay. Ole Miss is just happy to have a coach and Vandy, Mizzou, Kentucky don't care enough to have a "hot seat"

That's simply not true, we just want to beat them period. Nobody is realistic enough to tihnk we should beat them REGULARLY.

That’s just simply not true.

There’s no way the board approved close to 15 million dollars in BUYOUTS and expects sub-par results.

Fans are basically in a Win/Win IMO. We have a fantastic season with this schedule and people will quickly jump on the bandwagon with momentum carrying through what should be a stellar 2019 recruiting class. If O can’t get the job done, we cut our losses and move on to hopefully a bright future with a different coach at the helm.

Exactly! The guy who hasn't ran his own system this century is the perfect guy to update our offense...

What if it's 8 wins this season and 8 next season?

I’m not sure where this narrative is coming from, but he isn’t getting fired for 7-5 against one of the toughest schedules in the country

Alleva will not be firing or hiring anyone. If O needs to be fired, Joe will go first and the new guy will fire O. This is a known thing.

What we saw from Ensminger as interim OC was nothing like what we saw from Miles...and that was even using his playbook.

Also, no chance O gets fired this year unless we don’t win a game.

That'll get Alleva fired though.

O would enter 2019 on the hottest of seats. He stumbles out of the gates (vs Herman of all coaches), he's toast.
