"Lulu and Junior"..
-- quick backstory for younger folks.. "Lulu and Junior" were Lulu Roman and Junior Samples who were members of 'Hee Haw" a syndicated show in the 1970's.
CBS panned to this couple late in the 2001 SEC Championship game when it was all but obvious #21 LSU was going to upset #2 Tennessee. The next day these poor souls became one of the first "Memes" before there were memes.

it was. LSU had a 'good crowd' but Tennessee had 75% of the Georgia Dome. There were a few moments in the second quarter where it was looking shaky.
I know LSU has it's share of trouble makers, but my goodness everyone of Tennessee's "worst of the worst" were at the World Congress Center before the game showing LSU fans what obnoxious really means. Female Tennessee fans were walking around with orange roses as "when" Tennessee won they were going to the Rose Bowl for the BCS Title.
Awesome evening.

I remember seeing those roses all over the ground when leaving the dome.

All of the roses were tossed on the ground outside the Georgia Dome after the game.
It was glorious!

This was the game where there was a news article about TN embarrassing college football.
Maybe for knocking Davey out if the game?

That was my first thought when Les hired Chavis in '09. I didn't want LSU to turn into the 1970's Oakland Raiders.

I knew before I even clicked on the thread it’d be Lulu and Junior.

One of the best I've been to! We were juniors at LSU at the time and a group of us loaded up in 1 car. Stopped on the way through Auburn with our flags flying.

In 2001 I was living in ATL.
I think it was LSU's 1st trip to the SECCG

UT fans brought roses to the game anticipating a Rose Bowl invitation. The man in front of of me gave his to my wife and said we deserved it. Ha ha
