I know we are trying to blame the coaches, but how many "catching" drills do they do? I would think the coaches assume they don't have to coach JV skills to top ranked recruits. Sure, they should work on it, but damn.

If a team gets what, 8-10 drives per game, 4 drive-killing drops can be half of your offense. That, and the penalties and fumbles take care of the rest. This stuff is easy to fix. It's saddening to watch.

I'd like to see how those drops are divided up among each receiver.

I can't remember Landry having any catchable drops. But I haven't seen every snap, so I may be wrong or just forgetting.

I know he got his fingers on one early in the Towson game that was way behind him and over his head. Not really catchable.

And I can remember at least one time where he took a big hit on a slant and the ball was dislodged, but that shouldn't count as drop IMO. That's a pass breakup for the defense.

Also, any drops from the TEs this year? I can't recall any.

ETA: Just remembered a pass from the Florida game that I think was tipped by a defender. If it was, that shouldn't count as a drop either. If it's a deflection/pass breakup for the defense, it can't count as a drop. It's either one or the other.

And 14.75 of them would have been sure touchdowns.

I started following LSU football about 12 years ago. Thos is the least talent and depth I have seen at the WR position that I've seen so far.

Also seems to be terrible timing and familiarity between the QB and the WRs.

Just an observation.

I think 8 of thos drops were against Florida. Of those 8, 3 were OBJ, 2 were Boone, Ware had 1, and can't remember who had the other 2.

don't remember Ware having one. Copeland did though. ALthough i don't think that's his fault b/c he's a fricking 280 lb fullback that i don't expect to be able to run turn and catch a football at full speed.

They've been dropping a lot of balls all season

This hound by come as a surprise to anyone

The scheme isn't great, but if they cut the drops in HALF we're looking at a 6-0 team

When we are a threat to pass teams won't put 7-8 in the box

Dropped passes our killing our running game, and therefore our offense

Maybe our receivers need contacts like one of our guys a few years ago. Name slips my old mind at the moment.

Some of u people like to blame Mett. I can tell u never played the game! When the OF line can"t pass block & we only have 1 receiver-Landry who never gets a chance because he is not 1 of Les"s favorite players, u can"t blame the QB. We have won a couple of sloppy games this year but any way u cut it our OF SUCKS!

Maybe this will open a few more eyes as to the reason for the problem. When you drop 4 passes a game, that kills your drives. You can't run the ball every single down even though we try. When you only throw it 25 times a game like we do, dropping 1/6 of the passes is killer

I would like to see a breakdown, but it seems like Boone has dropped the highest % of passes that were thrown his way.
OBJ would be second on that list.
These drops are puzzling b/c OBJ and Wright are VERY good receivers and play under control.

I'd guess Shep. and yet I'd still like to see him targeted more.

I think well be fine if guys just concentrate on securing the catch and not trying to be some super duper playmaker.

Just curious. How many drops is acceptable? 1-2 a game? Pro games have drops every game also...it is part of the game. Same can be said for missed tackles, blocks etc.
