Emery Jones handicapped our run game really badly this last season and Will Cambell despite being a first round pick wasn’t anywhere near as dominant as we all thought he was going to be.

Braelin Moore is a major upgrade at center and these young guys coming up have incredible potential.

At this point I’d predict the started to be a mix of:

LT- Weston Davis
LG- Mubenga/Tyree Adams
C- Moore
RG- Chester/Curne/Thomas
RT- Adams

I have no doubt in my mind we will also add a plug and play starter at the T position with the remaining time in the portal.

I think we are going to be pleasantly surprised with this crew. Brad Davis has done an incredible job recruiting and is excited to begin creating an OL pipeline to the league. Obviously we HAVE to clean up the penalties though.

Merry Christmas gents!

tRant in the offseason: "All of these guys are going to be so good, there won't be any growing pains and we're going to walk to the natty"

tRant after game 1: "Everyone sucks"

I think we take a hit in pass protection but will gain the ability to run between the tackles.

Never in my life would I think we would see an LSU team that can not consistently run inside game in and game out.

If Moore is an upgrade at center and Chester is better suited at guard that could help the interior. Replacing both tackles in a pass heavy offense concerns me. Hopefully we have more balance with a better stable of backs.

I disagree. We will be better at Center, probably the same at the guard spots, but well will be a lot worse at tackles - especially at the start of the season.

I know we like to crap on Campbell, but other than a few stupid penalties he dominated his guy - especially on passing plays. The left tackle alone can't help the running game if the guards and centers get dominated every play.

I think our running game will be better, but out passing game will be worse, unless these new guys prove me wrong.

I'm at the point that I don't want to see Chester in an LSU uniform again. He was that bad.

I think the staff would prefer more balance than we were able to play with this season. We were forced to pass as much as we did, especially in the games we struggled in.

I think next year’s OL will have more overall talent and upside than this year’s. As good as Campbell and Jones are, Dellinger is very good, but slow, Chester struggled all season and Frazier was never better than average. And Mubenga was in way over his head when he was forced to play.

If you look at the profiles and playing time that the younger guys have, they all look to be more athletic and better suited to their roles. Kelly talked about wanting to run more gap plays and screens, but we lacked the athleticism in the OL to really do it well. He mentioned this specifically in a press conference over the final two weeks of the season. That shouldn’t be a problem next season.

None of this guarantees that the OL will gel and that will ultimately decide how good and effective they are. But, I do think we are on the way to assembling a group that will be more athletic and tougher inside. Another advantage we will have next year is competition. This year’s starting lineup was locked in from day one of camp since Chester had some SEC playing time. There isn’t a a spot on the field that will be guaranteed going into the Spring, so everyone is going to have to battle to lock down a position and stay in it. Hopefully that will bring a real edge back to our OL.

Meh. Let’s see how he handles playing without the responsibility of snapping and making protection calls. He’s also going into his redshirt sophomore season. He still has the development potential in both strength and technique. He may not pan out, but it’s stupid to write him off.

I think we are absolutley going to be better than this years oline was. People fail to recognize how vital it is to have a true center that leads the group and makes all of the calls for the unit. We arent done in the portal either. I believe we pick up a starting tackle in the portal too. We also have some very good studs that we have stacked up in our hs recruiting that are ready to play and contribute. Chester will play one guard im pretty sure and we will fill in the rest with the other guys we a have. I would bet that next seasons oline will be a strength instead of being a disappointment.

Side note I hope our young buck RBs study pass protection in the offseason. Josh Williams was a beast blocker

Durham was actually pretty good at pass protection for a true freshman. If he improves this offseason, he will be a great vet leader for a young backfield to learn from.

Durham has shown that hes not afraid to stick his nose in there and block. Hes a physical back and is very stout. He doesnt shy away from contact thats for sure.

C'mon man. Chester played poorly but most players do improve as they gain experience.

We are losing a first rounder and probably another 2nd rounder in Jones. We are losing a solid offensive guard in Dellinger. If Brad Davis couldn’t coach up these guys what will he do with less talent?

He was the lowest rated at his position all year. He was BAD. I am sick of seeing him watch a pass rusher run right in front of him and he does nothing. Hell, on run plays where he only has to block the man in front of him, he routinely gets blown up.
