The fact that there are 5 freshman on the hitters side in top 11 is VERY impressive. Sounds like the recruiting coordinator needs a raise :)

He never developed the power the scouts thought he would and that is what started to drop him in prospect rankings and eventually he just made the decision to come to campus.

Jake Brown is killing it. And Guidry is absolutely dominating.

I don’t have a link, but I think I remember reading something along the lines of that the scouts wanted to see him add a little more muscle in the offseason between his Jr yr and Sr of HS. But I think he came in still looking thin… what the scouts thought might be a little physically underdeveloped, and that was their concern. But from what I remember, there wasn’t a concern about his play nor his other attributes. He didn’t regress at all as a hitter, fielder, speed, base runner, etc. Someone like Project could elaborate more. I don’t claim to be an expert in this area.

We were lucky to get him to campus though, and I think he’s already showing to overall be a pretty smooth player.

Hard to judge for myself since I didn't make any of the scrimmages, but would Antoine Duplantis be a reasonable comparison to Curiel?

Just from the numbers, he appears to have great discipline, makes good contact, and gets on base a lot while not having the ideal frame.

That's been a comp a lot of guys that had seen him had made.

I'd have to think that with the prospect pedigree he has, that he's got more physical potential. But then again, he's only on campus because he hadn't gotten more physical prior to the draft.

If he has close to the LSU career that Duplantis had, I'll take it.

I really appreciate the effort you guys put into relaying the information from the scrimmages. Being a season ticket holder living out of state it is very appreciated.

Curiel has better tools and projects better than Duplantis IMO.

As I have stated many times, there is a reason he was rated #1 in his class for so long.

Dorsey is a head scratcher, as he has been awful. Mayers has not shown much improvement over who he was reported to be (Nuke Laloosh). I expected a little more from Eyanson, but he may be working on some things this fall. Ware has been a really nice addition to the staff.

Weakest position on the team defensively is catcher.

Well he is feasting off LSU pitchers now. Which I would like to think will be the best in the country.

How's Cowan looked? He hasn't walked anybody, which sounds like a pitch to contact guy especially given the number of hits. On the other hand, he's fanning hitters at a nice pace. Stat line is hard to read into.

Haven't seen him pitch this fall b/c he has gone on Saturdays. His 124 K's last year at Wofford is pretty impressive albeit at a lower level.

Thanks Bay. Good to see our catchers near the top offensively. They are my biggest concern, and may be the weakness on this team

Soooo are you maybe saying the pitching has been a bit underwhelming in these scrimmages overall?

If so then that’s really disappointing because I was thinking this year will finally be the year that LSU has 3 legit weekend starters with a deep deadly bullpen.

Are we sure Josh Pearson should be a starter this season?

Pearson’s job will be threatened, no doubt. He has to hit better & improve his defense. As a left handed hitting OF’er, will have to prove his worth vs Larson, Brown & Curiel.

I don’t understand how he stays in the lineup. OB Pct was pretty woeful last year. Production has been poor for two years, he offers little speed and average power. Have to think one of the young guys could do better.
