11-1 or bust
Returning senior QB with a ton of talent at WR and 5-Star RB coming in the summer. Tune-up game before we play Texas. We pulled Vandy from the east and we have Auburn, A&M, and UF at home. We will be favored in 11 of our 12 games. If Orgeron can't get to the playoffs this year, he never will.

This has to be the year because there will be a ton of turnover on this team going into the 2020 season.

Three out of four starting DL. That’s a big hit. Especially when one is Daylon Mack.

Agreed. But they at least dont lose alot of their 2 deep and Elko is rising star imo. They also landed some good dline prospects.

Jimbo will definitely have to slow down his offense to help the inexperienceed defense.

One of their junior LB declared for the draft so 5 of their front 7 are gone. It was their run defense that was so stout last year. I’m not seeing A&M as a strong contender this year.

Well its out of his hands. He doesnt really have any control over making the game outside of winning every game. There are 5 pf conferences and Notre Dame. 2 undefeated conf champs could get left out of the playoffs at no fault of their own.

Pretty typical for LSU fans...figure out the number of wins that are realistic and add 2 wins to that ...anything else would be a total failure.

The reality of it is, we will be a damn good team....but I haven't seen anything that would lead me to believe that we are a hell of a lot better than we were last year (which was a damn strong season).

I'd say that if you consider a ten-win season to be a "total failure" then you should probably spare the rest of us all of your misery and just take a year off.

I plan to sit my arse in the same seat that I have occupied for the last decade and a half and once again enjoy myself some Tiger football.

Win the West.

Last coach was fired after missing out 4 years in a row.

Ed has to start winning the division at some point. 11-1 was attainable last season. Need to fix our redzone woes and not play scared against bama.

What’s wrong, you don’t think O is capable of a championship?

10 - 2 in the regular season is the absolute baseline for this team. That is the record that is 'expected' for them in 2019 to maintain constancy.

However, my expectations (and hopes) are for improvement this year over last. (I still mentally view A&M as a W). Staying on the same level as last year is not viewed as a success for this team at this time. They have to be 11 - 1 this year.

Why this year?

This is JB's last year as QB.....there are a lot of returning starters.....some opponents may be down this year.....and we get some traditionally tough games at home.

Despite success in recruiting, after this year the QB situation will be in flux again and with LSU's history no one knows what to expect. It has to be this year.

You ought to take a couple more looks at this schedule if you believe 10-2 is the worst possible outcome. I'd say the worst we could do is 8-4. I'm picking us to go 10-2 with a loss in tuscaloosa and then another loss in the 3 game gauntlet in October (Florida, @Miss St, Auburn). I could easily see us dropping a game to Texas or A&M too. This is a super tough schedule in terms of the coaches we'll be facing.

This is very reasonable explanation. Thanks!

Yep

The schedule is there, QB, defense, and all around experience.
The schedule sets up perfectly. We get Texas before their defense can become half decent, we get Vandy out the East, and UF, Auburn come to LSU.

Defense has a legit chance to be #1 in the country and I'm not being a homer on that. Offense is loaded at skill positions, get Burrow back, who looks better, and if Brady can do nothing else, he can at least implement a quick passing game to offset any weaknesses in the OL (something that we desperately needed last year).

I expect 11-1, and if we are 11-1, our schedule gives us enough clout (I mean just look at the group of 5 teams we play), to get a playoff spot. Anything less than a 10-2 season is a complete failure.

This. Unless we go 11-1 and lose a tiebreaker to Bama for the West title, winning the West is the baseline this year.

Enough pussy footin' around. Time to take a step forward. Eaux has been recruiting his tail off. We have a ton of experience and talent on offense and defense and the best staff that money can buy. Let's go get it.

Anything less than 11-1 with a realistic playoff spot going into conference championship weekend is a disappointment. It just is. This is the year we’ve been “comin’” towards isn’t it?

If the OL still struggles this year, I think it would be time to start looking for a new OL coach.

And offensive coordinator. And likely head coach.
