2011 D / 2023 O v. 2019
Posted on 10/12/23 at 9:27 am
Posted on 10/12/23 at 9:27 am
Saw this idea thrown around in another thread and thought it would be a pretty good discussion.
Would the 2011 Defense paired with the 2023 Offense be able to beat the 2019 Team? 2011 would have Chavis, 2023 would have Denbrock, HC is Miles or Kelly.
Feel free to throw out any other O/D combinations that might be worth throwing their hat in the ring.
2011 D
Eric Reid
Morris Claiborne
Kevin Minter
Brandon Taylor
Yrann Mathieu
Same Montgomery
Michael Brokers
Craig Loston
Ron Brooks
Barkevious Mingo
Ego Fergunson
Karnell Hatcher
Anthony Johnson
Lavar Edwards
Tharold Simon
Benie Logan
2023 O
Jayden Daniels
Logan Diggs
John Emery
Malik Nabers

Mason Taylor

2019 O

2019 defense in Nov/Dec/January or before bama?

I think so
2011 D was in a different stratosphere than auburn’s 2019 D

I think it depends which 2019 team you played. Thru the 2019 OM game I would give it to 2011. End of year thru playoffs, 2019 no doubt. 2019 D was mostly just good enough thru most of the season, but at the end it was really strong.

2019 team would win !

2011 D with 2023 O would win that game 7/10 times.

2011 Defense & 2023 Offense beats 2019 team for sure. The 2019 and 2023 offenses have both been super elite all yer and that 2011 defense was better start to finish than the 2019 team. Love Joey B and the crew, but that 2011 defense was absolutuely nasty.

2011 D with 2023 O would be the greatest team of all time. Top 10 defense in CFB history with an elite offense? Duh

This 2023 team would win it all with the 3rd string defensive starters from 2011

What if? The fact is 2019 was the best LSU team ever, and it isn't close

However you want to interpret it.

Came from this thread. It isn't "some random" team, it is LSU v. LSU. You're also entitled to just not post if you don't want to discuss?

I’m taking 2019 team all day everyday.
Posted on 10/12/23 at 12:30 pm to TheDeathValley
give me 11D23O
that’s a top 2 Defense plus a top 5 offense vs a #2 Offense and a like top 40 Defense

I think a lot of people forget the Ole Miss game was one of the more concerning defensive games, AND it was AFTER Bama… a game which we also gave up 40+ points (but Bama was also an elite offense).

I’m assuming 2019 at their best and 2023 post FSU offense. I think that would be a very competitive matchup. The offenses would run roughshod over the defenses. I’d give it to 2019 because the 2011 defense would have no idea how to stop a modern offense.
