Also, for those not familiar, Georgia Tech’s coach was set to be Notre Dame’s head coach, but had lied on his resume haha.
quote:
In 2001, O'Leary left Georgia Tech to take over as the head coach for the University of Notre Dame. However, a few days after he was hired, inaccuracies were discovered in his published biographical sketch. The biography, which had remained more or less unchanged for two decades, stated that O'Leary had earned three letters in football at the University of New Hampshire, but when The (Manchester) Union Leader called The University of New Hampshire to research a feature story on him, the school informed the paper he had not even played in one game. When this came to light, O'Leary offered his immediate resignation, which Notre Dame athletic director Kevin White turned down, but then asked if there were any other inaccuracies.[10] He then admitted that he had not earned a master's degree from "NYU-Stony Brook University": this was a non-existent institution named after two separate schools over 50 miles apart (he had taken only two courses at Stony Brook, and never graduated).[11] When this inaccuracy came to light, Notre Dame promptly forced O'Leary to resign.[10] O'Leary said in a statement released that day, "Due to a selfish and thoughtless act many years ago, I have personally embarrassed Notre Dame, its alumni and fans."[12] O'Leary blamed these inaccuracies on resume padding that had followed him through his career, and admitted: "In seeking employment I prepared a resume that contained inaccuracies regarding my completion of course work for a master's degree and also my level of participation in football at my alma mater. These misstatements were never stricken from my resume or biographical sketch in later years."

Definitely concussed. Back of his head slammed down into the turf

One of the few times you saw Saban genuinely happy after a game.

He knew he had the sleeping giant on his hands. Lots of nostalgia to process just now watching that replay.

That was Saban's first bowl win

That LSU team was dead until Rohan came in.
Should have been the starter the entire season.

wish they would wear the purple jerseys in the bowl this year to just change things up.
I wished we still had that tone of gold for helmets and pants. Looks so much better.

George O’Leary was the Ga Tech coach. Remember he was hired as the ND coach, but stepped down after he had padded his resume. The next week I called a friend of mine in the coaching profession. I asked what he was doing, his reply, “ Checking everything on my resume, dates, times, jobs, no one wants to get a dream job, only to lose it due to his resume!”
They were getting school fax in the dates and jobs, to match their resumes.

Brandon “The Club” Winey. Winey was arrested for the shooting of LSU player Tahj Jones on April 12, 2014.
Winey had been out of the NFL for 10 years.

Bill O’Brien was the OC for Georgia Tech.
The same Bill O'Brien that is currently the Alabama OC.

Funny how these coaches weave their way through the profession back and forth to each other.

I can’t think of a more tighter group than Coaches. You can be recruiting against a coach, a few months later, you are on the same staff.

Yep. That completely changed that game round. The GA Tech coaches protested but the refs allowed it. I am not sure he would have been allowed.to play under SEC Rules but this was a bowl game and it was not an SEC opponent.
