I was there and It was a great trip. LSU had to beg its way into that Bowl because we had not travelled well in some of the previous bowls LSU has played in at the time. The attendance was good for that peach Bowl and Rohan put on a show in the 2nd half.

Never forget it. When people talk about Saban benching Hurts in the Natty, I tell em about when he did it the first time, at halftime of this game. The entire team seemed to rally around Rohan. After suffering through 8 of 10 years of bowl-less misery, this game and the SEC championship upset of Tennessee a year later began LSU's dominance in the ATL.

Had we beaten Arkansas that LSU team would have gone to the Cotton Bow. An unusual amount of LSU fans ordered Cotton Bowl tickets before the Arkansas game and subsequent bid. Tennessee wound up going to the Cotton on a gloomy day in Dallas. This worked out to be a blessing in disguise.

I was there also. Other than the great game, what I remember is how cold it was. I remember driving up there in cold rain and then the temperature dropped into the low 20s and stayed in the 20s the day of the game and dropped into the upper teens that night.

When we went to check out of the hotel and get the car from the underground parking at the hotel, the water inside the windows and doors had frozen to where we had trouble opening them and using the power windows until the heater kicked in.

I was there. I still have a VHS tape somewhere with Ron Franklin and Mike Gottfried doing the broadcast. They were the GOAT crew IMO. At the pep rally at the Hyatt Nick told the crowd “Ms. Terry would never let me leave LSU. She loves BR”.

I too was there. The early 2000s were the most exhilarating and authentic time to be an LSU fan. The giant was just stirring from its slumber, and it carried on its shoulders all the die-hards who had stood by the program through the dark 90s.

GT was highly favored. A younger Herbstreit called a GT victory the "lock" of the bowl season. Then Davey slung and Reed levitated. The LSU fans seethed with joy in the Georgia Dome. My voice was hoarse for days. After the victory, during the trophy presentation, one of the Peach Bowl representatives said that he believed LSU would be back in Atlanta the next year for the SEC Championship. Lo and behold...

pretty sure it was intentional, used us as negotiating leverage with the Marlins, worked too, largest signing bonus in history, at the time, iirc, I don't think he ever considered coming to LSU until his baseball career fizzled out

I spy famous TD poster 4LSU2 at about 1:39 in the video.

I saw a guy I graduated with and played ball in HS and college with in the shot of the crowd as well. He went by the nickname Goose in HS, but I’m not putting his real name on here bc I don’t trust y’all lol.

Actually there’s two guys I went to HS with in that shot.

Broke arse graduate student.

Bartered my way onto the charter from BR to Atlanta.

They were so delighted that I had a CD of LSU fight songs before such things were for sale that the honcho gave me a free hotel room that some fatcat had paid for but not shown up for.

Good times. Geaux Tigers.

My sister worked for an attorney who franchised 2 chick-fil-a’s. He got us corporate seats. Midfield. Club level. Access to the corporate party. Huge spread, brew, incredible seats. Great night. Bradie James MVP right after losing his dad IIRC.

that sent me down a rabbit hole... watched lots of Rohan Davey highlights... He was so fun to watch back in the day... but more than that I realized that he sometimes takes like a 14 step drop

Goose was with 4LSU2 and another fella with the initials JN. Not sure if he posts here.
