The negative sentiment towards the #7 tradition, generally speaking, is off-base. I understand current frustrations but.....

2004-07 Ali Highsmith
2008-10 Patrick Peterson
2011 Tyrann Mathieu
2012-13 none
2014-16 Leonard Fournette
2017 DJ Chark
2018 none (abandoned by Giles)
2019 Grant Delpit
2020 Jamar Chase/ Jacoby Stevens
2021 Derek Stingley
2022 Kashon Boutte
2023 Will Campbell
2024 Harold Perkins/ Will Campbell

Didn’t that transfer from Texas Tech where it one year? And was over hyped.

Giles I think?

7 was given to the shitty WR. Just cuz it got pulled doesn't mean no one had the number.

Except for Will Cambell who you left off of 2023 (weird you'd leave off the only person to get the number and play well), every one of these players had their worst season as a tiger while wearing number 7. Its not even debatable.

He was assigned 7 in 2020, but he wound up sitting out the whole year.

Campbell had 7 in 2023. He just couldn't wear the actual number since he is OL. He had a #7 patch.

2018 was Giles, the transfer WR. He was not very productive...to be kind. and gave up the number after a few games with Coach speak saying it was too much pressure on the kid.

Which is the issue with the tradition. Of course it goes to guys that were good for LSU but then they get number 7 and shite the bed. Whether its pressure from having the number or its the spotlight that tells opposing teams to game plan around them or whatever, guys get number 7 and then play worse.

I'm not all "ditch the 7 tradition", cuz apparently the players like it. I guess.

That said, one awarded number is enough. And it's a bit funny to me that it's now a "Louisiana born playmaker" thing when PP7 popularized it and is from Miami.

Also, shout out Rondell Mealey, T Faulk and Adrian Mayes. And I think James Gillyard too

while 2019 wasn’t Delpit’s best year here he did win the Thorpe award that season, so it’s not like he was trash.

2011, Honey Badger had one of the greatest defensive season in the history of the sport.
"removed from team" should be next to 2012 instead.
