2 things I learned about kiffin

#1 he is human and you can tell he still cares for the players at Ole Miss which is a good thing for our players here going forward.
#2 he needed to put behind him because regardless of what he said it bothered him and was a huge distraction and needed to pass so he can concentrate on our team only moving forward and not this event.
Thank god it's over and maybe it was best for us to lose this game we have a lot of holes and they were exploited lets us know what to fix, and I kinda think lane wanted them to win because he felt bad about how he had to leave. Just my observations that's the feeling I got after watching his presser based on what he said and his body language.

I don’t agree that he wanted them to win but I do think it may be better in the long run.
This whole thing was a huge albatross to deal with and now some of that vitriol will be gone.
It also keeps pressure on OM to keep winning and maintaining that playoff run, and like you said gave us an intense trial by fire and we saw pretty much everything we need to work on.

He acknowledged this in the postgame

Never heard of such a thing

My biggest takeaway is that Lane has grown the frick up. He objectively handled himself with class leading up to, during, and after the game. He showed fire when it called for it, calm when we needed it. I’m thrilled that at 51, we could easily have him for another decade and a half at top form.

Unfortunately some of those holes can't be fixed if we end up losing Green, Sparks, etc. for the season. Their replacements will undoubtedly be a downgrade. Also, I'm not sure the OL issues can be fixed. We have a few guys on the OL who are just plain bad. CLK won't be able to remedy that until the off-season.

This game being the past will be the best thing for this team.

It was basically a 6 year Kiffin program vs a Kiffin 6 month program.
It was the best Kiffin recruited qb against the worst Kiffin recruited qb and their is a world of diffenence between the 2. I think he will get there, but it won't be this year. We may drop 2 or 3 more.

I can't imagine him committing that long. I can't imagine us committing that long unless we start going to playoffs every year.

No. I think he realizes it was a difficult situation and how they probably felt when he left. And I'm sure he wanted to coach and see what he could have done in the post-season last year. More than anything though, he sounded wistful returning there talking about how he turned his life around there, but his parents are gone now and weren't there to support him through this ordeal.

2-3? That’s generous. 4-5 is my guess. You ain’t fixing this shite this year.
But these overpaid coaches better figure it the frick out. We’ve had one dominant performance against an apparently woeful Clemson. We’ve struggled against Tech and Ole Miss.
They better go to the cash drawer and blow their wad on an Oline next yerar because that has been a glaring deficiency since Miles’ last years.

yup save the outlier year in 2019.
im spending 10-15 million just on PROVEN o line studs in the portal. and yes i am stealing starters from other teams. this o line shite is not LSU football.
it is SACRILEGE.

I'd much rather find out in practice what we need to fix/work on rather than losing SEC games to get it right

I believe he wants to be Nick Saban. If we give him support and resources, I don’t think he’s going to go anywhere.

I would say playoffs 2/3 years (assuming no expansion) with a deep run 1/3 years and a national championship every half decade or so and we’d be foolish to go shopping for another coach.
And for the record, I think he’ll do better than that.

So he wants to end up at Alabama like saban?
Posted on 9/20/26 at 1:56 pm to burke985
We got beat in the trenches, that’s alarming and harder to fix.

Nope, that would just have him in Saban’s shadow. It’s clear Saban told him that LSU is where he can build and cement his legacy as an all time great.
