It might be close if there are 3 finals games and they are in it.
That would give them minimum 5-6 more games if they average 2-3 a game it will be close.
But probably safe with this being in Omaha and not that tiny field in Tenner.

they have 175 right now, so they need 13 more to tie and 14 to break it. They average 2.57 per game right now. It is entirely possible they could tie or pass it. If my math is right, they could play 7 more games max if they lose tomorrow, win Tuesday, win Wednesday, win Thursday, and then go three games in the finals. They would need two HRs per game in that scenario to break it.

Here's to the Vols getting shut out the next two.

All records are made to be broken… we’ve had this one for almost 30 years…

Didn’t LSU hit a home run in every game. That should be a record.

They did. Streak started in the 96 title game against Miami and carried into the first few weeks of the 98 season. I think we ended up hitting a homer in like 77 straight games.

1996 was the year they hit a HR in every game.

“LSU hit a home run in 77 straight games, spanning parts of three seasons from June 8, 1996, to Feb. 21, 1998.” According to NCAA article
1997 was the year they hit a HR in every game.

If they are averaging 2.5 a game they are under their season avg in Omaha…and Omaha isn’t Lindsey Nelson. It will be very impressive if they end up breaking it

They now have 177. They could play as many as 5 more games or as few as 3. Of course, depending on if they win. Win their next game, they could played 2 or 3 in the final series. They do have a good shot at it.

As many as 5 and as few as 2*, not 3. Correct?

Correct, now that they won the first two.

Doesn’t the winner of NC/Fla St have to beat Tenn twice to get to the finals? Or has it changed to just one game? That’s where I was thinking 2 games, plus the 2 out of 3 Championship Series. This would make it 3-5 games.

Tennessee must lose twice in a row vs either unc/fsu in order to not play for a natty

Yes, starting with the Morris home run in Omaha 1996 and ended sometime during 1998 season.
It wasn’t a NCAA records category, but I think it was added later.

At best, 5 more games, but potentially only 3. The record is safe. FOR NOW.
