1997 LSU Home Run Record In Jeopardy?

Can someone better at math tell me if Tennessee, who now has 166 home runs, has a chance to break the 97 record of 188? Thank you.

Not if they lose tomorrow

They need 22 to tie it? They aren’t blasting that many in Omaha IF they make it.
6/16 edit. This shite is getting a loser than I thought

It’s not impossible, but Omaha doesn’t give up a lot of homers and Tenn needs a lot.

That was my thought, that if they make it, that ballpark should contain them.

I don't see them getting anywhere close to that at Charles schwab.

They would also probably need to be in the losers bracket in Omaha to have the extra games, but mashing that many HRs and being in the losers bracket doesn’t make logical sense

If they get past the aces they would be lucky to hit 8-10 HR’s at Charles Schwab.

Seems very very unlikely, if not impossible

They don't hit the same once they leave the Smoky Mountains and that high school stadium they play in.

Tennessee likely needs to be around 170 going into the CWS to have any shot. LSU and USC both hit a CWS record 17 home runs in 1998 -- LSU in four games, USC in six. LSU hit eight home runs alone in the 12-10 win over USC. Seven different players combined to hit the eight home runs, another CWS record.

Reposted because it deserved more appreciation. These stats are awesome and keeps Gorilla Ball on that pedestal.

People complain about the "nuclear" bats back then, but what about the helium balls today? No way anyone should even be approaching that record. I wish they had just left things as they were before BBCOR bats. BBCOR killed offense, and then they over-adjusted with these baseballs. What we had prior to that was fair. Or even just 4 or 5 years ago was better than this.
I don't think Tennessee breaks the record, but they can also thank their tiny field for assisting them.

Just an incredible stat. What a team and fun time.

They have 1 game today and a max of 8 in Omaha.
Even if they hit 5 today, they would still need 17 in Omaha to tie.
It is possible but not likely.

That was at the old park, which was a launching pad. The ball doesn’t fly the same in the new one. No way they break the record.

I never like to say things are impossible. But this is impossible.
