Nope. 97 was the best lineup we have ever had, and it is not really that close.

Miles had several RB groups that were just as good or better. Every year he four or five guys like Hester and Blue. One year he had Leonard Fournette, Guice and several other good ones. And no, Rondell would not be number one this year. He’d probably be one of the workhorses, though.

That 2016 Fournette, Guice, Williams backfield was pretty special too. 2003 just behind that level. All played in the NFL. I also don't knock the 2011 backfield, but I would probably put it behind 97

Many of you are totally blind to the current OL situation, but your eyes are going to be opened up very soon now!
_________

How can anyone be blind to the OL? 100 threads on it so far.

Many of your posts read like you hope we fail at something so your negative takes can come true. The vast majority see the OL as our weakest link going in to the season, but are hopeful they gel quickly.

Were you at LSU then? Or Jr High perhaps?

You can certainly make a case for 97 but it is either nostalgia or ignorance to say that Fournette/Guice/DWilliams/Brossett is “not close” to 97

Back when you could wear 7 as Rondel Mealey. Not hating on the guy, it was just a different time.

That was pretty damn wild. I thought at that time while teams were going to spread offenses and defenses were trading size for speed that we could have had some triple option formations, to mix things up.

What about
Dalton Hilliard
Gary James
Eric Martin
Gene Lang
Herman Fontenot

All those guys made NFL rosters, although Martin was shifted to WR because the running back depth was so strong. Another running back transferred after Hilliard became the starter. He made an NFL roster as well.

2016 we had Fournette, Guice, and Darrel Williams. That was insane too.

Spencer Ware, Jeremy Hill, Kenny Hilliard, Michael Ford and Alfred Blue in 2012 deserve a mention here too

I miss the power I formation on short yardage.
Pretty sure LSU never ran the Power I.

I suppose it's possible LSU may have lined up in Power I once or twice a season, but it definitely was not a formation LSU used on a regular basis.
