I think that was the last game they allowed umbrellas in Tiger Stadium.

Some memories are so traumatic that they are vivid forever. I was only 11 years old and watched on TV but I can remember the exact layout of my friend's room that we were watching and some of his curse words (that I'd never heard before).

I can also remember my dad picking me up the next day and saying 'Good thing you didn't go to that one, here's the program although it's falling apart from getting soaked'.

What's funny is umbrellas would not help in that game. It was literally raining sideways. The passes thrown in the game would get blown two or three feet to the side by the winds. Miserable conditions.

It was like Miami brought their live mascot to that game. Never voluntarily experienced rain like that in my life, but stayed to the end.

It was close going in to the 4th quarter then it got out of hand. That was the night of the biggest monsoon I ever saw in Tiger Stadium. And that Steve Walsh looked a lot better than the Steve Walsh I saw with the Saints.

I was there. I was a sophomore that year. The program slowly slid into oblivion during my years there.

I remember a deluge of rain falling into the stadium, and before it could hit the ground the wind would swirl it around and around. It was like nothing I've ever seen before or since.
