I left that game early to watch Mike Tyson KO Trevor Berbeck to win his 1st heavyweight title.

In no way am I asking this in a negative manor, but what makes you think of this stuff enough to post it here? I'm not positive, but I would have to think I was at that game. I was only 11 at the time, but went to almost all of the games with my dad.

That was the year I really got into LSU football. The best. Watched Browndyke miss the kick against Ole Miss from the southeast corner, we couldn't tell except by the reactions. They talked so much crap for the next year. I remember watching most of the 14-10 bama win at my cousin's house, we couldn't sit still the whole time so we went in and out with a yellow rubber small-ish LSU football reenacting Hodson-Davis. Who remembers those footballs? We went through a lot of them, they never aged well. I bet the newer ones are nice.

I appreciate the question: It was the last time LSU played ND at night in Baton Rouge. It was the last time LSU wore their purple uniform look. It was a classic match up & game in that ND won the national championship two years later in 1988. It was another night game in Baton Rouge against Notre Dame in which a goal line stand affected the outcome of the tight hard fought game.(The first one was in 1971 in which LSU held ND out of red zone position 4 times) It put LSU in front to win the SEC and go to the Sugar Bowl.

my dad went to an LSU - ND game in 1985. drove from Carencro to South Bend and he said we ended up winning in a low score game. he said it was cold as shite and a long drive but he does not regret one bit and one of his all time favorite memories

Nice. At 11 I was usually more interested in the wave or how my dad and his friends were heckling the visiting team. It used to crack me up when the threw ice at the Tulane fans in front of us. We were all the way at the top of the stadium on the goal line in the south end zone West side, so there were always visiting fans there. It was the old U9 if you know where that was.

I was there. What a game, and what a team: Hodson, Williams, Davis, McGee, etc.

Huh? I think they've worn purple many, many times since then, at least once or twice almost every season.

I was confused by that too.

OP, do you really not know we’ve worn purple many time since? And did for all home games after that till 95?

He was a beanpole like Brennan, but had a much better OL to protect him and give him a few seconds to find receivers.

Sad Sad OL situation currently in place at LSU.

I'm a militant realist that doesn't walk around waving P&G pom poms. Just wait until the season unfolds and we get into the SEC Meat. It's going to be OL

The rest of the team is "Close" to where we want/need it.

Ur nutz. Oline will be solid as long as injury bug isn’t bad this season and C gets worked out

Alright, Old. . . Thank you very much for that! I was a freshman in the marching band that year and I remember every second of that game!

You made my day!

I was a student at that time. Here's what I remember: LSU takes the opening kickoff and has about a 7 minute drive and scores a TD. LSU kicks off and Tim Brown returns the kick for a TD. LSU gets the ball back and goes on another 7-8 minute drive for a TD. End of 1st quarter, LSU 14 ND 7 and the Irish had the ball about 12 seconds in the entire quarter.

Disclaimer: It was more than 30 years ago, so if I got anything wrong, I apologize in advance.
