Is this the game Rick Clausen threw a missile into the student section after they scored in OT?

Edit: He did, I remember him picking up the ball after they scored and throwing it into the stands as hard as he could.

Agree. If we don't lose the SEC Championship, there wouldn't have been the delightful beatdown of Miami in the Peach.

I'll take that as the consolation prize for not making the Sugar Bowl.

Remember, the Sugar Bowl was moved to the Georgia Dome that year because of damage caused by Katrina.

These two things are related.

I was told by an LSU sportswriter at that time that Fisher did not want to sit on the ball but was told by Elmer Fudd to shut it down. Of course, by the time Elmer reversed course, we had lost momentum and the D was gassed.

FWIW, Miles got plenty of credit for weathering the impact of the storms. Too much iMO.

The sun at the LSU-Ohio St tie game (Earle Bruce) made that the hottest game I’ve been to. This was the most MISERABLE game I’ve been to because of the humidity.

Was coming to post this. I was at the Auburn 2017 game, granted I sat in the shade for that one,

But that Monday night Tennessee game was the most brutally hot game that I have been to. The heat coming off the concrete underneath the seats was killer.

Was at both, still maintain the 05 UT game was the hottest game I have ever been to until last years utah state game.

BS. That team was loaded with NFL players.05-08 Should be all players on that squad. That would be the draft classes of 06-09. That was 25 NFL draft picks.7 of those 25 were 1st round picks.

With that roster, Miles could not hold a 21 point lead in Tiger Stadium for a Half.

That is piss poor coaching. The story of Miles's time at LSU.

Yeah rough start for Leslie Ann Miles. Don’t forget about the rush to call a timeout AFTER Leron Landry picked the ball off. Miles was such a doof.

That is the game my brother-in-law died in Tiger Stadium right after Tennessee scored to win the game. They were able to bring him back to life. He is still alive and continues to attend LSU games.

Might have been the most oppressive heat humidity ever in Tiger Stadium

I just started sweating thinking about this game.

The term “oppressive” doesn’t even touch it when it came to the heat and humidity that night. It was unfathomable.

ETA: I was at the 11am kickoff for App St. in ‘08 and that game still doesn’t touch Tenn on Monday Night.

It was 10:00 AM. I remember being there for the players to walk down victory hill at like 8:00 AM.
