that was a rough and tough time for the LSU football team. I believe when the SEC either that Wednesday or Thursday moved the game to Monday that the conference call was quite heated with the particular LSU and Tennessee reps. LSU wanted to play Saturday and Tennessee wanted to move the game to Knoxville and come to Baton Rouge in 2006.

I've never felt Miles received the credit he deserved for not only guiding that team through the tragedies of the storms that season but fielding an excellent team, too. Regardless of whomever' players he inherited not every coach could have pulled that off, including his predecessor.

I think the players lost an average of 15 pounds or something like that during Katrina and Rita not even counting the psychological effects. We had nothing left in the second half of that game. In a normal year Tennessee gets boat raced in that game.

2005 was a great team. we should have beaten TENN that night, that Arizona state game is a classic
We beat really good a Bama team on the road in November.
I always wonder what would happen if we didnt play 12 games in 12 weeks because you could see how tired we were vs UGA.

I remember being so hyped for that game. And then being so not hyped when it was over.

Freak that game. If dumbass Les Miles didn’t call a timeout right after we intercepted a pass, we could of had a field goal right before halftime. Jamarcus was stopped at the goalline right before halftime and we didn’t have any timeouts left. If Miles was smart not to waste a timeout after a turnover, we could have 3 points and not go into overtime.

agree with all of this, and remember it all well.

the thing is, USC and Tx were 1 and 2 pretty much all year, so even had lsu beaten Tenn and UGA, I don't see us moving up ahead of either of those 2 teams, at that time in 2005.

Never underestimate Les’s ability to play down. He should have lost to Tennessee and Derek Dooley in 2010. That team should have beaten that Tennessee team by 40

I appreciate what he did for the program in his early years. That 2008 season broke him. We underachieved or lost a game we had no business losing pretty much every year after that other than the "what could have been" season in 2011.

Was coming to post this. I was at the Auburn 2017 game, granted I sat in the shade for that one,

But that Monday night Tennessee game was the most brutally hot game that I have been to. The heat coming off the concrete underneath the seats was killer.

I didn't attend that game but I was on the east sideline for that Auburn game. The 2008 opener vs. App State with a late morning start at the end of August was particularly brutal. And the Texas game last year was a scorcher as well.

Was that the game we lead 20 -o at half and lost because we did not blitz one time? We also made a qb who transferred from LSU look like a heisman winner.

I remember I was north of BR doing some field work at a plant and busting my arse all day to ensure I could get home, get cleaned up and get to the game.

Just disheartening the contrast of how easily they took apart the Vols in the 1st Half vs falling apart in the second.

as for Texas and Southern Cal, it was them two and everyone else. LSU was definitely not on par with them that season.

That year worked out as it should have for the MNC. They were easily the two best and if you paid attention you knew ESPN and everyone was severely overhyping SC and that Vince Young and Texas were trouble for anyone.
