I was talking to a mid 50s female Mississippi State alumni the other day and she talked on and on about how much she loves the sound of those cowbells and how she has this huge collections of cowbells. She even talked about how her ex-husband wanted their best cowbell in the divorce. Cringe

It was all I could do to not tell her how aggravating that sound is.

Imagine being a grown-arse man and ringing a damn cowbell at a football game. Or wearing a cowbell holster on your belt.

Those damn things are obnoxious.

Those aren't really cowbells. Those are the brains rattling around inside the heads of Moo U. fans.

Then everyone clapped.

I agree, it was a quaint little tradition when their stadium was just a glorified high school field that had to rent lights, but now with the double decks and the closed ends it is really obnoxious and should no longer be allowed. Its time has passed.

A lot easier said than done to axe a long-standing tradition.

I doubt it is going anywhere so long as they largely abide by the rules at home games. Away stadiums disallow them entirely, so it's not creating a competitive advantage in any game.

Those MooU fans will get tired of shaking those bells in the heat by mid-way through the 2nd quarter.

They did ban them in the early 70's.

The Auburn coach complained that his players were getting a hard-on.

Moo State is an SEC charter member and a school founded just a few years after the Ole War Skule. They've earned their right to ring cowbells

Then frick it, everyone should be allowed to ring bells when they come to town. Turnabout’s fair play

Nope, no need to cry.

The team I support doesn't need to bring in artificial noise makers to show their appreciation and mess with the opposing teams

Kind of sad when you think about it

The 11am slot is horrible considering the field of match ups.
