10889 attendance today and 5 sections in the student section were 98% empty

3rd place team in the SEC
Battling for NCAA tournament seeding
A former tiger great getting his number retired.
Yet the students once again don’t show up. The middle sections of the student section were only half way full 10 minutes into the game.
Good job general public for coming out today to support the tigers. Students, time to shut up about your seating. You proved today that you don’t care about basketball.

I think the student seating capacity needs to be reduced.

Do we need these threads after every single home game?
We get it. The current students suck and you were better when you were a student.

I thought the same thing. Not only did they not fill up the upper two sections, but they couldn’t even fill the bottom section behind the goal.
Tell me why LSU should give up expensive sideline seats for kids who don’t show? Clemson is barely .500 and they had a ton of students rush the floor. LSU has so few at the games I think the 95 year old ushers dragging around their oxygen tanks could keep them from rushing the floor

I just don’t get why LSU basketball can’t get good fan support. Tickets are cheap and games only take about 2 hours, yet the arena is rarely full.
Also, the student section is an abomination. They were sitting for the entire game today.

They’re no different from the way they were in my day 20 years ago.

Ok. Well shaming people into voluntarily attending a sporting event seems like a poor approach. I’d love the place to be full but I don’t know what the best solution would be for increasing student attendance. Making threads on a message board about how much they suck probably isn’t it.

The students are not bitching about their seating. Its the dumb vitriolic posters on this board who think their incessant posts game after game about the atmosphere in the PMAC is original. The PMAC has hosted eight SEC champions, three Final Four teams and 20 NCAA tourney teams. Quit complaining and just appreciate the games in a historic venue where some of the greatest players have called home. Your constant complaints certainly do not help recruiting.

Basketball crowds were cannibalized by the *ahem* Draconian Sanctions at a time when baseball started winning national titles. The culture at LSU changed & it will take years and years of competitive basketball to get the PMAC back to where it was when I was a kid

I’m sure the ones without hangovers were there.

None of the current students were even born when he was playing.

I'm not usually one to trash the student sections in football or basketball but today was truly pathetic.

My earliest LSU sports memory was the PMAC in 1994. The program had begun the slide but I remember it was absolutely lit up for the Kentucky game on fat tuesday that year. Hell the PMAC was awesome in 2000 for that SEC title run. But at this point the PMAC needs something to change in terms of seating overall, and drastically. And obviously being a consistent winner will help any program. I say go to a square-type layout and have the seats closer to the court. Get better spots for students and have some more expensive premium seating of some kind to make up the difference.

The student section sucks. I’m tired of hearing about how the students have gotten screwed, that the atmosphere would get better if they had better seats, etc. Bull.
Their seats were moved because they took up prime courtside real estate that went to waste once they quit going to games. Again, when Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf was at LSU as Chris Jackson, we earned our prime courtside seats as students because we were there every game and we were loud.
As an alum, I’m tired of hearing the current students whine and I’m tired of people whining for the current students. Even if your seat is behind a goal, it costs chump change to go to a game and if you live on campus there’s really no excuse not to be there.
Quit making excuses for the current students.
