I've been staying up at night thinking about this. It is almost impossible to get off a field goal with the way the clock is run today.

I was thinking that T-Bob could have stood up and kicked the football toward the goal while the referee was standing there. He would have had to throw a flag for delay of game, right?

Then, we run in the field goal team.

Offensive penalty they run the clock off. But this is how I would like to have seen LSU do it.

if you don't have the fg team ready (which is mind boggling) then JJ should be screeaming a play any play and hike the ball on the whislte.

At least try to win instead of spiking. Even though the coaching staff is telling you to spike it try and get any kind of play off.

Go back and look at how much time the refs gave us after Toliver's catch. It's about 27 seconds before the ref whistled the ball ready for play.

That is plenty enough time to run the FG unit on the field if they were organized on the sidelines. Snap the ball on the whistle.

At the very least, that was more than enough time to signal a play to JJ. Snap the ball on the whistle.

true, they would have declined. Rather than that, T-bob punches an ole piss lineman, incurring a dead ball personal foul. back it up. and run the fg team out.

its real easy if you don't wait 17 seconds to call a timeout after 3rd down

Easy, we thought of this right after the game. Think back a couple of years. Tell the players, if we make this play, somebody go down hurt on the field and stay down. It stops the clock and gives you plenty of time to get the field goal team on the turf.

The guys did this a couple of times in 2007, primarily to buy time for equipment failures - broken chinstraps and such.

I like the Purdue clip tho - very impressive.

It would have taken the FG team the same amount of time it took the offense to take the field.

They had time once the pass was caught before the chains were moved.

They blew it.

it's not even about the 1 second left on the clock. the whole series was a major screw up after the on-side kick recovery. i understand that the last pass was supposed to be in the end zone and there was no expectation for another play. it's poor planning, but i can understand it. i can't understand the 3 plays called after the on-side recovery or the 20 seconds it took to call a time out on 3rd down.

The game was lost when they let the clock run down to 9 seconds. I knew there was no way to get two plays off.
