If we win a tough OOC game, it can help us down the stretch when we lose a close game against a conference opponent.
If we lose the opener we don’t belong anywhere near the national championship game anyway.

This is such a soft mentality. How about LSU just leave the SEC and join the ACC or Big 12 in that case? Champions should beat the best competition not run from it

Right. And IIRC, had we simply 1- beat Florida and 2- had Mizzou beat Arkansas we would have been in the SEC C and could have beaten Texas to get in the playoffs with three losses….
Point being, we shouldn’t be scared to play Clemson next year. We shouldn’t have been scared to play FSU in the past or USC this year.

Plus we would not have made the playoffs anyway. They would have said we lost three conference games and played no one ooc.
However, Brian Kelly needs to prove that he can get his team up and ready to play against a high quality opponent with the whole spring and fall camps to prepare.

Stop getting upset at the guy for losing these hard openers when we know we realistically can’t fire him and we know he’s always awful in week 1, even going back to his Notre Dame days. Brian Kelly lays eggs in week 1. That’s just who we hired. Accept it. Get over it. We should therefore cancel the big games in week 1 as long as he’s coach.

You do realize the reason LSU did NOT make the 12 team Playoff is because we shite the bed in the 2nd Half of the A&M and the Florida game.

I'd rather play and beat the Orange Bowl Champ, Rose Bowl Champ, Sugar Bowl Champ, and National Champ in the same year and lose the National Championship game like 2011...than have Jacksonville State, McNeese, Western Kentucky, and Rice as our out of conference game.
I'd rather lose to USC in Vegas...than beat Rice 77-0 at home.
