The majority of fans realize we were not the best team in the league, very likely not a final four team but that doesn’t mean WW couldn’t build a highly competitive team. Many would say we were very competitive this year when healthy! I enjoy just being in the top 15 discussion. Yeah the team was hard to watch at times but other times very entertaining! That’s what it’s all about, correct?

Or how about Billy Donovan or Brad Stevens? If you keep acting like Wade was some awesome young coach, compare him to coaches who were the hot names who started in their mid-30s at schools. Bill Self, John Calipari, Brad Stevens, and Billy Donovan fit that description. Is Wade on any of their levels? The answer is no, so it’s time to stop melting that he’s gone.

No one was looking at this year's team to be a final four threat only a tournament team which they were. With Ace's injury it changed things because we never really knew how good this team could've been. Everyone was looking at the potential of what the team would like with the added additions of Allen, Traore, etc but that went out the window.

Well said. Bob Knight and Jim Valvano won national titles in their mid-30's.
Wade had some good moments. But I'm just baffled and mystified that so many here feel his body of work at LSU was some Herculean effort.

Yup the Wade simps on this board are desperate. They're abused spouse syndrome where LSU basketball was so shite tier they immediately elevated a mediocre basketball coach to god tier who couldn't even maintain a presence in post season play.
This guy took a giant shite on our program. He was either dumb or completely arrogant to pay the players like he did. He doesn't deserve anyone's goodwill here. He put LSU on the inevitable death penalty being stupid. And yes, LSU admin including Woody are just as dumb as him. No telling what further damage he might cause the program since they're firing him for cause which is grounds for him to threaten with whatever skeletons LSU has in the closet. Who knows if he has dirt on programs outside basketball.

Talent - No
Coaching - Not yet.
You do realize that this roster at the start of the season was Wade's least talented team since year 1. We did not have a single player projected to be a draft pick on Day 1. Tari was developed into a first round pick by this staff.
Next year's roster would have absolutely been a Final Four caliber roster.
As to coaching, at 38, Wade was certainly on the rise.

Well that's interesting, how many of these coaches made it to a Final Four before turning 40? How many of these coaches made a Final Four in the first 5 years at Power Conference. Cal is likely the only one when he made it with UMass.

When Jay Wright was Wade’s age he never made it out of the first round of the tournament.
When Coach K was Wades’s age he hadn’t made it out the second round.
And we’re talking legendary coaches in that group.
John Brady didn’t make the tournament till he was 45 and he got to a final four
Scott Drew didn’t get out the first round till he was 40
It’s not insane to think Wade would have become a very good coach.
