did you really expect to make a run his first year? I knew we had some potential but we needed a lot of breaks. and we immediately ran into the injury bug. then this team has not developed chemistry.
i don't want to be so idiotic as a see other schools wanting to fire their new head coaches already.
it's more fun watching if mathematically we're still in the hunt, which we are, but it's only a short matter of time before that illusion is gone. I'm going to try to enjoy the rest of the season anyway.

Dude, what are you talking about. This is what cfb is now. You're going to have transfers on your team every year. If you can't mesh by game 6, it's a problem.
I didn't think this year was championship or bust but I also don't agree that this was any sort of "rebuilding" year.
Kiffin brought in the staff he wanted and we gave him every dime to go assembly the team he wanted.
The results are not satisfactory so far. Period.

Agreed baw.
Too many people got sucked in by blowing out Clemson week 1.
The margin of error to make the playoff in year 1 was razor thin, and with the injuries, ref campaign against us, a patchwork roster, and the mistakes we’ve made in game with players and coaches that margin is completely blown.
Hope it doesn’t get too ugly against Bama and UT and get ready for a full recruiting cycle and year 2

Explain to me what you think will be substantially different in year 2 that Kiffin wasn't set up to do in year 1?

No. But with what was spent over the off season I expected to beat the following this year
Clemson
La Tech
McNeese
Kentucky
Miss State
Auburn
Arkansas
These are different.
Aggie
Ole Miss
Bama
Texas
Tennessee
Honestly I would take 3-2 record out of those

Kiffin has also been saying since spring that this roster is still a work in progress that has serious depth issues.
We mostly ignored him because we didn’t want to hear it, but seems like he may have been correct.

Getting dominated in the trenches by Kentucky is pretty much the definition of the sky is falling. Your upside potential for the rest of the year is pretty limited given the back end loaded schedule when realize how weak we are at the LOS. Weak enough that LK wouldn’t even try to win the game on 4th and 1.

Yes. Why did we buy these players if that wasn’t the expectation?
We’re irrelevant before November, again, for the seventh season in a row and for the 14th season out of the last 15.

Whether he's correct or not, nobody wants to hear it. You figure out how to win games with what you have. Or at least that's what I'd hope is the plan for the highest paid coaching staff in cfb.

7-5 would be good at this point. Wait til they lose a couple more and guys start getting “injured” to prepare for draft.

Knowing that absolutely nothing I can say will satisfy you, I will simply say at the very least having a full year of a recruiting cycle will put the staff in a much stronger position to build the roster that they want

“I don’t want to hear it” is exactly why you’re melting all over this board.
Maybe listen to the coach when he literally says, “we aren’t there yet”.

If State beats us at home this gets really ugly really quick. Kiffin might voluntarily leave.

Yeah, you're the kind of person that will still be a believer when he's saying it in year 4.

Said it was year 2 for Kelly. Have said it’s year 2 for Kiffin.
Keep melting though.

Out of playoff contention second week of October, but ok pal
Posted on 10/11/26 at 7:38 am to stephendomalley
Agree. The sky is not falling. However, first year expectations did not include a loss to Kentucky.
Posted on 10/11/26 at 7:40 am to stephendomalley
I didn't expect an LSU defense to allow Kentucky to march 70 yards downfield in under two minutes to tie the game when one first down by LSU would've ended it with a Tiger victory. However, I expected LSU to go 10-2 at best and 8-4 at worst. Now we're looking at possibly 6-6/5-7 seeing how we can't seem to win an SEC game on the road. I also didn't expect for our season to pretty much be over by the second week in October.
