Silver Lining for Levitt

He overcame a deep deficit and tied the game on the road. LSU had a chance at the end and would have been in a much better position if Baker could have stopped Chambliss at all in the first half.
Levitt isn’t Chambliss but let’s try to be objective here

The only real silver lining is he didn’t start throwing again until July. If he’s still not comfortable in the offense and playing too fast, he will get better.
The worry is he’s a one read QB who won’t take Kiffin’s coaching.

A year 2 under Weis/Kiffin looking increasingly likely.

He’s a gamer for sure. Needs to get seriously better at passing.
JD had a dramatic improvement, so I think Leavitt can. But as of right now, he can’t throw very well

Tipped balls are a big issue.
Need designed plays to move the pocket to allow him to throw, not just run anytime they break contain.

He’s got happy feet. He was jittery every time he took a snap in the first half.

He started working with this offense and these receivers 5 weeks ago?
Burrow had his struggles in year 1 and that was with a spring.
Golding is a great DC and threw the kitchen sink at him.
Leavitt will get better.

If he doesn’t change his throwing motion it’s no saving him.

Lots of room for improvement for sure. Seems to have happy feet and takes off too soon and doesn’t see open receivers. I get it… I suck at NCAA on XBOX, but I don’t claim to be good.
All that said, he led the team back in an hostile environment after being handed a large deficit.

He already has more interceptions than Burrow and JD in year 1.
Only 3 games played.

At a renegotiated price?

There isn't a silver lining. Too many batted balls and he isn't accurate. He overthrows wr's when his passes aren't being batted down.

We'd also been in a much better spot if the offense could have moved the ball outside of the single drive in the 1st half. Baker deserves some shite but the whole team does. Offensive line was getting man handled every play in the first half. Levitt on plays even when he had time opted to tuck and run way too early. That was a team loss

I was shocked at how many tipped passes happened even when he was moving outside the pocket

I've seen enough and I'm ready to move on.
Next year should be Clark

Leavitt is a solid qb but he is really Johnny manziel 2.0. He has never been a consistent qb from the pocket and needs a strong running game to thrive. He lives on making a big play and his legs and that isnt a recipe for long term success. People forget Leavitt was a desperation move(thats why kiffin got on a plane to intercept him going to another visit ) Desmond williams was his 1st choice and went to Leavitt after they didnt get him.

2) I can’t take a second year of Leavitt. I don’t even know if I can take two more games of him

He has no fundamentals what so ever for a guy who’s in his 4th year of P4 football. It’s possible he takes that 5th year leap, but it’s going to take a leap. I don’t see the downside of playing Clark who has the same package of talent, just younger.
From a new age roster management perspective, the millions of dollars they are spending on Leavitt could get you some serious IOL talent that could elevate the QBs and RBs. It’s going to be interesting to see how they play that this offseason, since Leavitt was atleast 3rd (4th if you count Chambliss) on their list for QBs.

People talk like we have the best offensive line in the country…they still look pretty “Offensive” to me…check out even Seaton “whiffing” on a few plays…
