I'm not sure if two different sets of speculations got conflated very early on.
I think the general rumor was that Woodward's #1 was probably Drink and that he opposed the idea of hiring Kiffin, which may have been part of what sealed his fate
I think once Woody was out of the way, Kiffin or Sumrall were the candidates that seemed to get the most traction in the rumor mill.
Help an old man out, what do you recall, FB?

I honestly don’t think Kiffin was ever in doubt. I saw the way he admired Tiger Stadium in 2024.

yes as far as BS rumors and disinformation goes.
i do not think urban was interested as he shoulda been the hire in 2022 instead of kelly but we had a cuck take the easy way out throw money at a guy who was already coasting at notre dame unbeknownst to us. not our job, poor vetting by fat scott.
once landry got people he wanted in charge(BOS, president, AD) i think it was lane all the way. make no mistake landry wanted lane.
they were not taking no for an answer. again urban shoulda been the #1 target but i think he is done coaching and enjoying his grandkids now and has it made on FOX gameday. just like saban on ESPN gameday

I like him too. He comes off as a nerd but the guy loves his players and they obviously play hard for him. He would have fit fine because he isn’t an arrogant a-hole. Unlikely Kelly he would have embraced the culture down here.
