I'd be pissed if I was an OL and lost out on playing time to Heard after he was fully set on leaving purely for a bag. Sets a terrible precedent and if he left again you'd be a double pickle.
this right here.....its easy to not be in the coach's position and say "he's elite talent, of course you take him back and any others have to just suck it up if they can't beat him out". I'm all for competition and the best man winning, but I'm also not in favor of "giving" someone that opportunity who already threw it away and now wants back. you'll start having more guys leaving than the 1 you're accepting back.

Unfortunately, this won't affect Heard at all.
By picking the Vols, he obviously wasn't picking a title contender, so he'll still get his starts on a mediocre team, no matter the punishment.
A punishment might include limited scholarships, assistant coach ban and, at worst, a bowl ban in '25, a game he probably wouldn't choose to play in anyway as a junior.

My guess, if this effects his NIL, is he tries to come back to LSU but I wouldn't take him back because he could bolt again after next season. He's shown his hand and there's no going back

This.
Heard is entitled to have different priorities than the rest of us.
He has made a pure money play.
Loyalty to state, teammates, opportunity to play for championships, best opportunity for future development are not as important to ZA-lance as they are to others.
Tennessee will work fine as long as its money spends.
Mama has spoken.

He didn't like how strict LSU's weed policy is. There's been many a player speak out about it.

You hate to see it but even more so you love to see it.

He did make a poor decision but I doubt any of this affects him much, even if it's "major". Maybe they lose some scholarships and some recruiting restrictions? A post season bowl ban would be the only thing that would really affect him personally.
so basically a chance to play in the oscar meyer wiener bowl could be on the line? because we know the vols won’t be playing in any serious bowls any time soon

Not going to be an issue with him. It’s all centered around that quarterback

I can’t wait to see how their baseball coach handles this.

As long he’s on the payroll and his check goes in when it’s supposed to, I’m sure he’s fine. That’s all he cared about according to people close to that situation.

Trey Palmer went from LSU as a backup, to Nebraska and a starter, to what is shaping up as a nice career in Tampa.

He’s not coming back to LSU under any circumstance. As long as UT keeps paying him, he’s fine
