The issue at hand now is are they willing to do that for a defensive lineman instead of QB.

They would be ignorant to pay this for someone who has only played one season of high school football, and that season wasn’t even this current season.

People like Musk or Ellison who can wipe their asses with hundred dollar bills I can see paying this kind of money, but LSU doesn’t have one of those.

Stewart isn't worth half of what Bryce brings to the table. Superstar qb's can carry bad teams. Superstar d linemen in college don't carry bad teams. The game in college is too spread out.

I couldn’t agree more, but there’s a sucker born every minute. There are some desperate teams with endless pockets.

I agree. I think that’s one of the reasons Saban hung it up. Bama has money too, but the don’t have Oregon, Mich, USC kind of money.

While that may be true, you can't help but see it as a warning flag. You can't fault a kid for taking the money as soon as he can. However the fact that he decided not to play another season so he could get the money sooner is at least something to consider. Will he stick with that school or look for additional money every year? Will he take that check and not push himself like some players do? He will be raw no matter what happens

This is the sole reason he reclassified. Stewart doesn’t have any undying Loyalty to LSU or any school. He’s shopping for the best offer. Also, the USC predictions on some recruiting sites is a result of someone in his inner circle leaking info out. As of now, LSU is out of it, and he’s hoping Oregon ups the ante. If it breaks that he will announce/sign on Dec 4th, then it’s 100% Oregon as they met his number. He is def going to be an early enrollee, but this could go a little past Dec 4th if the bidding war continues. LSU would need a complete miracle at this point.

We won't know that until 4 years from now.

He might be a bust, he might be the next Dorsey, time will tell but it sucks to not be in the race for a 5* in state at a position of need

Anyone that believes this kid is going anywhere but Oregon is fooling themselves. All LSU s to him is a bargaining chip. We can’t offer Nike money nor should we for one player like they will. We can’t pay DTs $1 mil or more a season. That’s just for QBs.

There are a ton of red flags with Stewart. And I posted about them when he officially reclassified

-he’s played 1 season of HS football
-he transferred from East St. John to St. Aug to Karr. That’s 3 excellent football programs, none of which give him a step up or better opportunity. So why?
-leaving St. Aug right before the season is shitty, no matter how you slice it

Those are factual red flags. There are speculative ones, like- has he peaked physically already, is he kinda stiff(I say yes), is he a workout warrior? We don’t know.

This REEKS of bust. I still hope he picks LSU because if he doesn’t bust, I’d prefer it be here.

It doesn’t when that guy is only worried about one thing.

Guys that worry about money and money only rarely have the drive to be great, they’re looking for a quick payday. He may well pan out, but then you will be playing the same song and dance every season trying to keep him as he will just be eying the next college that will pay more.

The headache is not worth it, if he wants to come to LSU and learn from two of the best D-Line coaches in the country while preparing himself for the NFL, then cool.

If he wants the highest bidder that’s paying the most now, good luck. Shouldn’t be us. We should not get in a bidding war for anyone.

I’d disagree, Karr is clearly better than the other two, but that doesn’t matter since he wasn’t going there to play. St Aug is better than East St John and is just a better opportunity with the opponents he got to play

And he left for a reason. Kids love to see their teammates get a bag and succeed. There aren’t hard feelings there

Either way, one kid going to three different high schools, in a three year period is a red flag 10/10 times

we turn real fast on players that don’t live up to the hype or make mistakes that a lot of young guys make

Same for Ohio St, he is asking for too much, and only USC and Oregon are desparate enough / have Nike paying for it.

Our last coach is one.

Got his fat contract then started coasting until they fired him and had to pay that money.

You can look across all sports from players tk coaches and find the same examples.

Why is LSU always the leverage commitment ? The bargaining chip.
