re: Why does LSU always seem to get 5* CB, WRs, ATHs, but never any 5* O or D linemen?

Elite OL are rare. Bama, OU, and OSU are really the only programs that consistently recruit them. Even Clemson doesn't recruit the O-line at that level.

I know to consistently be contenders, LSU needs to get on that list. However, there just aren't that many Elite OL out there for us to go get. I do agree it's time for Cregg to go though.

LA doesn't produce offensive linemen. It's always going to start there.

Can we make a rule against talking about the o-line recruiting?

Everybody knows we need them and we need to get leigh . Theres no reason to keep saying shite over and over and over and over and over again

I agree it does get tiring talking about why we can't recruit them.

Therefore it seems like our absolute #1 priority to maximize the potential of our program would be to figure out a way to develop the 3*/borderline 4* O Line talent we do get. I'm not really seeing it happen.

What? I mean, we get pretty elite OL and DL talent each year, many of whom are borderline 5-star talent and are top 20 nationally in their respective positions:

Jaquelin Roy (#6 DT), BJ Ojulari (#6 WDE) Jacobian Guillory (#12 DT), Marcus Dumervil (#11 OT) Kardell Thomas (#4 OG), Siaki Ika (#13 DT), Anthony Bradford (#13 OG), and Ray Parker (#14 OT) in the past two years alone.

Pretty obvious answer, lots of offensive linemen are of Anglo-European ancestry. We have a bunch of tiny white dudes of french ancestry here.

Louisiana rarely produces good Olinemen. We get our fair share of 5* dlinemen

For example, the top ranked OLineman in the state this year is a 3* and ranked #88 in the country for OT. There's only three I've seen even in the top 66 of our state on 24/7 sports.

5* OLine Louisiana has produced:
- Cam Robinson '14
- La'el Collins '11

5* DLine Louisiana has produced:
- Marcus Spears '01
- Marquise Hill '01
- Glenn Dorsey '04
- Al Woods '06
- Chris Davenport '09
- Anthony Johnson '11
- Rashard Lawrence '16
- Maason Smith '21

Some of those players have played at other schools but not alot. We just dont have alot to choose from.

Geography

Agree, look at where many top OL prospects come from Atlanta area for example, Florida, as well as Clemson, Alabama, Georgia are all geographically closer to those players and LSU is.

I think LSU should go to the Midwest and find some of those high 3-star kids that you can develop, sign 2 of them at least, and then try to get a 4-star here and there (we signed Dellenger from Michigan, a 4-star). Lots of 3-star HS recruits from the Midwest go play OL for Big 10 schools and make it to the NFL.

Kentucky has used that strategy, they recruit Ohio for Offensive Lineman, solid 3-star recruits that played in top notch HS football programs and competition and sign them, put them in an SEC strength and conditioning, coach them up and they

Look at top 10 College programs that produce NFL offensive Lineman over the last 20 years. Alabama is in there, but they recruit elite talent from all over the country. Wisconsin and Iowa are in the top 10 list and then go look at their recruiting rankings. They recruit the Midwest-Big 10 footprint, sign 4 or 5 3 star guys and coach them up.

LINK

I think we need to adapt our recruiting strategy to scout the Big 10 footprint and sign some guys from up that way, even if they are 3-star recruits. Evaluate, project to the next level, develop and coach up. Wisconsin and Iowa do it, LSU should be able to.

A lot of it is the state of Louisiana produces numerous players at those positions and also d line. Offensive line, linebacker, and QB are positions you have to go out of state to recruit.

You can sign all the 5 star skill positions you want, which looks good on recruiting rankings, but if the OL is mediocre...you miss in evaluating and developing, you won’t have or maintain an winning program and the skill players can’t shine

You get the OL and DL in order, the rest falls in place.

What’s your point?

LSU needs to re-focus on OL recruiting abd their strategy. Evaluate-develop-process who can’t cut it. Need to sign 3-5 every year. LSU is an elite program and needs to start recruiting OL like an elite program.

The OP asked why LSU gets those so easy compared to O line and that is my point. The reason they get them so easy is because their recruiting footprint produces them in abundance. I agree that they need to go get o linemen.

Top 4* & 5* OL producing states in our pipeline 2017-2021:

Texas - 38
Florida - 32
Georgia - 20
Alabama - 8
Louisiana - 4
Mississippi - 3

Top 4* & 5* OL recruiting teams from those states 2017-2021:

Georgia - 14
Alabama - 10
Texas - 9
Florida - 8
Miami - 8
Texas A&M - 7
LSU - 6
Oklahoma- 6
Auburn - 4
Stanford - 4
4 teams - 3
5 teams - 2
7 teams - 1

UGA has built a steel curtain in Georgia, locking up 11/20 OL recruits.

It’s been said many times that LA doesn’t produce top OL talent . When you only see 4 in 5 years, can’t let teams like Georgia come in and snatch one away. Need to do better than 2/38 players out of Texas as well.

Because none of them live in our traditional recruiting area... have to go,out of state... we are just one of many. Saban said there are two or three top tackles in the country each year. May 10 top line,an overall. Very competitive
