There is a kid at Neville that is a must get. I witnessed him absolutely destroying Minden High’s D line last week.

Our o-line in high school was mostly made of guys who were 6’-6’2” and weighed max 260. We just were better prepared and more conditioned than other teams. Had a teammate that initially was playing tight end that was 6’6” and then got told he’d be playing interior line in college. Ended up starting at Michigan his whole career.

When’s the last real blue chip OL to cone out of the state? La’El Collins? That was a decade ago.

Because Louisiana has generally been a state of smaller to average height people. We have plenty of HUGE (weight) people - but the amount of 6'5"+ males are not prevalent -- like in TX, OH, PA, CA, etc.

1. too many running/option offenses

2. the talented guys are DL

This is the answer.

Not enough HS in La play the style of offense that prepares OL for college.

We could easily produce lots of O-lineman however those the lineman that come out of Louisiana most always prefer defense. They are quicker and more athletics. What i dont understand is why we arent better at recruting lineman out of texas

My GF’s kid is 6’5” 320 and plays OT.

If he would develope a mean streak he could be a good one. He will play college ball but developing a mean streak is going to be the difference between la tech and an sec school

Too much French and Creole blood down here. Not enough Viking blood.

I am originally from Wisconsin and about 6’5”. In my HS there were 20 other kids just in my class who were that tall

When I moved to New Orleans I went to De La Salle when it was still all boys. There might have been 5 kids in the school my height.

South Louisiana has a genetic pool of short white boys. Cold hard fact as to why there are so few good OL in this state. NC team last year and only one was born and raised in Louisiana. Two if you throw in Magee.

It’s all the hot food and seafood down south which is good sources of protein but lacks what the boys up north and in the Midwest eat.

Not getting the number 1 center in America just up the road in New Orleans last year doesn’t help.
