I felt Gilbert was better last night though. And spears is only going to get better although he did not log a lot of snaps last night

Who did you have in mind? It's all fun to complain but I've yet to hear any solutions. I will say this, players seemed to be in position(thats coaching), especially Burns, but just aren't making a ton of plays. Yeah a stud safety would definitely change things but i don't recall a bunch in the portal.

Gilbert wasn't a top safety

He was a top 5 portal safety

I've said this before but every since Nader has retired LSU's personnel talent evaluations in high school and portal have been way worse than typical

Alexander, Swinson, Shand, Anderson, Thomas are all major contributors from the last two portal classes. And we have like 8 true freshmen playing rotation minutes and at least 2 starting.

Gilbert was 100% one of the top safeties in the portal last offseason.

Sage literally runs around with no direction. He is always 2 seconds to late and comes flying in.
I'll give Sage some credit on one thing. He could have made a business decision with that DT/RB coming through the hole untouched at him last night. Yeah he got trucked, but he got the guy down when there was no one else back behind him.

This is revisionist history.

The portal is a crapshoot. Just because a top player doesn’t pan out, doesn’t mean you didn’t try.

Gilbert was a top portal safety. They signed a CB Brown.

Gilbert was the No. 8 safety in the portal according to On3.

Brown was the No. 29 CB.

Sage was our highest graded safety (second if burns counts) and had the third highest tackle grade behind our two LBs. He isn’t an all American but he’s played much better at safety (compared to last year) and has improved each week. Still has another year as well

said we needed a starting safety and corner and the secondary is shite.

Imagine being such a big loser you're posting on the recruiting board during the middle of one of the biggest games of the year

Every aTm fan said Gilbert was nothing special. You guys acting like it’s any surprise that’s he’s just ok are the ones making stuff up. They took him because he was gettable from Louisiana and good enough, he was never a stud.

Portal rankings can’t really be compared to high school rankings because of volume. “Number 9 at your position” in the portal really might not mean anything.

We don't even need recruiting sites or rankings, we just ask the fans what they think.

Why didn’t every team upgrade every position, and then they would have all won national championships. It’s not like waving a magic wand. Like why didn’t the guy who came in second just run faster?

Should've been much more.

I saw one dropped pass that would have been a TD. Don’t give me a bunch of shite about failing on fourth down; that was due to our defense.

Ole miss didn't impress me without tre Harris. He got hurt early and didn't play the rest of the game.

Did you even watch the game?

He was injured in the second half.

Shut down guy.

Sage ryan is the safety that needed to be replaced.
