We are assuming they would look for the following:

1) QB that has started at least a year or two
2) Not at one of the BIG time programs but still faced good competition
3) At least some Dual Threat Ability
4) At least 2 years of eligibility left

What kind of guys would they be looking at?

Need to hit up Ohio state backups.

Air Noland or Julian Sayin

Nuss will be starting next year here, people have given up on him way too early.

We may get a portal QB with a few years remaining but i dont know they get someone who has just a year or so left, expecially if nuss is still around.

We dont have any traction with 2026 QBs right now and thats concerning. Biggest hope is 1 of the 2027 guys we are after reclassify to 2026 probably, and I suspect 1 might to get a year closer to NIL.

That Tulane freshman has been pretty good this year from what I've heard. Full disclosure I haven't really seen much of him though

Devon Dampier out of New Mexico should be priority number 1. Sophomore and a true dual threat. Just beat a ranked Wazzu team too. Kyler Murray 2.0.

He has been good. I don't think he has been "LSU good"

I've probably watched a good bit more of Tulane than many on here. Mensah has been good.

He's not on Nuss's level of arm talent or even close.

That Hurley kid has a ton of upside. He is just young. We should look at him

Unless we are going to join the AAC we need to raid programs other than Tulane.

I've mentioned this in a couple other threads:

1)John Mateer from Wazzu (TX kid from the DFW area)
2)Darian Mensah from Tulane
3)Noland/Sayin from Ohio St (and yes, Kelly told Sayin "no" once, but we should at least evaluate bringing him in)

As the season winds down, there will undoubtedly be some big names that enter the portal and we should be the first team in line to snag them.

At the very least Nuss needs to be pushed for his starting job, but we need someone that can be mobile and change the game e.g. what Cam Ward has done at Miami, Dillon Gabriel at Oregon.

Probably need to pay buds to come back and develop a short yardage and red zone package for Hurley

I’d give Salter from Liberty a look if he’s in the portal.

he had 31 TD and 2750 yard and only threw the ball 266 times last year. he also had 1000 yards rushing and 12 TD.

Having rougher year thisnyear may be looking for a better situation.

Sayin is at Ohio State? Wow I’m way out of the loop lol I didn’t know that. Thought he was still at Bama.
