Damn. I forgot all about him changing his name. Thanks for sharing. That's probably why I was thinking he came as a NSD surprise. It was his name change that was surprising. You just don't see many kids change their last name like that when they are that old.

Williams was very highly recruited and the L. Fornette of his day. The story was that a bunch of his classmates began singing the Aggie song, as if he was just expected to go there by everybody. He lived not far from College Station,. Something about that pissed him off. And to everyone's surprise he picked LSU, having given no prior indication he might do so.

More so that he just resented that he was being taken for granted. Wanted to be his own man and chose to be different. Just like LF was different in not falling for the Bama love.

Current Ruston WR Coach, Kenny Bell. Was committed to LSU for a very long time. Showed up at school on NSD with an LSU jacket on then proceeded to unzip it, reveal a Bama shirt, and sign with them.

I hate the fact that my old high school hired that guy. I played with the current head coach there. Brad went to Northwestern State so he really has no ties whatsoever to LSU. I think the guy just wants to win. But still the same I don't like hiring a Bama player.

Yes!! Damien James!
I couldnt get Brady James out of my head to remember.

He had been Michigan all the way. Then flipped on NSD. It was epic.

He had a pass break up against Tennessee(I think) on last play of the game to win a huge one for us.
After a monster Junior year, Saban kicked him off the team like 6 or 7 games into his senior year.

Isn't he the kid that failed like seven drug tests so Saban had to finally boot him.....same kind of practice he carries on at Bama

I'd say Harvey Williams...when he walked into his high school gym everyone was singing the aTm fight song because they all thought for sure he was going to commit to them...instead he named LSU as his school of choice and shocked everyone..a KODAK moment

Alot of these younger guys don't remember us opening up with Texas A&M for like 4 or 5 years in a row during the 80's. Those were some damn good games. Glad "Neck" Williams was on our side. He was fun to watch. He did have a pretty good career in the NFL also I do believe.

I don't think his NSD recruitment will likely ever be topped...
I heard he now lives about a mile from my house.

NObody who followed Ferguson's recruitment was surprised.
And he announced Arky long before NSD, choosing to go there with three teammates.
Ferguson broke all national HS passing records and never considered signing up for a Cholly Mac offense. I think Bert JOnes made a huge mistake when he did so. He was terribly underused.

I don't think he trolled LSU. I think he was all LSU until he and his family got an offer they couldn't refuse soon before the announcement. I think he felt really bad about having to tell the LSU coaches no after telling them he was coming and he just chose to go the spineless route and not tell LSU until they watched him commit to Bama

Maybe, but I still lost a whole lot of respect for him when he did that. He did not handle it right at all. I think it's more likely that he just used LSU to get his sister a scholarship and knew all along he was going to Bama. I could give a crap about him now, and hope he flops in the NFL when the time comes.

And you must be yet another self-important person here who likes to spout off with smart-assed one liners. There seems to be a lot of your ilk here.
