I’m just now catching up on recruiting news from the past week and I’m kinda shocked that we’ve had four top caliber players back away from LSU especially with the hype surrounding the program right now... any insight on the reason?

The Georgia bag man came out. Same thing happened last year with Pickens.

Rak, Burton, and Burch all stayed home. As simple as that.

Trying to keep up I've gleaned the following:
* proximity to home
* immediate or percieved fast playing time
* Bag men lol

Burch was never a commit.

“Insiders” thought he was a lock but insiders are generally super optimistic and think everyone who has LSU in their final list is a near lock.

Ultimately three players decommitted and two of those were surprises. One was a receiver who went to an abysmal program with one of the worst passing offenses in the NCAA.

Not everything makes sense.

Just odd that the other 4 teams with higher recruiting classes didn't have decommits and got kids they weren't expecting to get. Why is it LSU loses big recruits every year? We are ranked #1 and won tons of awards

I have a feeling Georgia is going to learn a hard lesson if the only reason they are getting these last minute flips is because their bagman showed up with the biggest pile of cash at the last moment.

They are going to have a roster full of guys with character issues like Pickens.

Georgia has a roster full of talent, so they can’t sell playing time for most positions.

They better win something other than their division soon, or they won’t be able to sell championships.

They already have a reputation of not developing their talent.

Bag men should be used to neutralize other schools. It shouldn’t be the main recruiting focus. That’s a model second rate schools try to use, and it’s not sustainable.

I don’t know. Overall Orgeron’s doing a good job, but he’s getting killed on signing days. Every year we’re losing commits and not getting any big flips. It doesn’t hurt too much because Orgeron had a monster class committed.

We're casting a wider net nationally in recruiting. We have highly rated recruits looking at LSU, and some committing. But in the end some of these guys will be swayed to stay close to home. And $ or whatever.

Ricks turned out to a solid commit. And getting Dumervil from FL was big.
