Logan Schmidt will make it to campus ???
The Cleveland Guardians have $2.4M remaining in bonus pool & still need to sign 2nd-rounder Logan Schmidt and 3rd-rounder Tre Broussard (824K slot).
Schmidt reportedly sought $5M pre-draft…will he take less than 2?

Update:
Logan Schmidt is now Cleveland’s only remaining unsigned top-10-round pick.
By my math, that leaves roughly $1.7M of spending flexibility (including the 5% overage) for Schmidt.
That’s a long way from where this started

Guardians agreed to his price before drafting him and now saying they can’t pay that amount. Less than half. He has good options. With 5 to play 5 he has more draft opportunities ahead if he comes to LSU and our NIL collective is all over this.

So, if he signs for roughly $1,600,000, he takes home about $750K (after federal, state taxes (He’s a Cali resident), Agent, Medicare, etc.). Not a bad payday for a high schooler. But, if he was really thinking $5,000,000, then somebody’s got some ‘splainin’ to do.

If this is true, we need lefties on this roster especially ones like him. He's worth paying a big NIL deal for at least 2 years to see what he can develop into. I hope they push this hard because it's an opportunity for LSU. The bad thing is they'll have to find a spot and tell someone else to leave if it does happen.

Yea but he can leave LSU worth what Cleveland is offering him currently and then re-cash in in two years. I cant see Cleveland booting this, this bad. There has to be something else going on or some salaries reported incorrectly somewhere.

nobody knows what hes talking about. imagine thinking playong ball at lsu is a negative in any way. if hes talking about evans and the other Schmitt then hes just dumb because they are both going to be high picks. we have a top 5 staff so I really dont know what hes talking about. maybe cam Johnson and paz ...no idea

Assuming he doesn’t sign with Cleveland, still not a sure thing he ends up at LSU. Smoke regarding him potentially going juco for a year to reenter the draft in 27.

Why go to juco? Just to be draft eligible next year? Three years at LSU would be better
