What are the chances LSU is portal shopping for a QB this offseason?

100%. No chance they go into '24 with Nussmeier backed up by only Collins and a true Frosh. Considering what they've done with Daniels and the offense, there may be a couple high-end guys knocking on LSU's door. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. I expect them to take someone good enough to at least compete for the starting job.

Chances are high they bring on somebody for depth. It's Nuss' job though .

I think it’s more likely to get a backup for depth like Bama did with Buchner than to start over Nuss. Etling wasn’t brought in to start either.

I think it depends on who's interested. I think they keep an open mind. You really think they'll turn down a more talented player with 2 years of eligibility out of a sense of obligation to Nussmeier? I'd doubt they find someone clearly better and or more proven, but it wouldn't surprise me either. With the way they've developed Daniels, who knows who may want to transfer in.

For a starter instead of Nuss? No way man. As a backup, maybe. Collins will be a serviceable backup. But Hurley will be way too young, though he does look to be good.

I think very high, Burrow and Daniels have been magic here.
I don't believe it would hurt to look at the transfer portal for a QB.

I think they try to get somebody in the portal to compete for it. If that makes Nuss flinch than he was never the guy

Heard a former coach on Bill King's radio show today. Said the QB at Arky State is the second coming of Jayden Daniels. Thinks he'll be in the portal in December. Said he's the real deal.

Walker Howard won’t start. He’s an option.

This.

Nuss is the starter and should be. He will be good, but in case he gets hurt, they should get a solid veteran back up in the portal.

They won’t turn him down but a transfer of that caliber doesn’t want to have to compete for the job.

This. It seems obvious posters on here havent seen Rickie play. If he develops he could be another Jayden

Good Chance! We need a QB with experience backing up Nuss never know what can happen over long season. It will also help push Nuss in the Spring. Having competition at every position is never a bad thing.

He really could be. I saw him in High School and was impressed then.

The biggest issue I noticed initially at LSU in the spring game was he looked like he had a long motion so his release was slow compared to Nuss and Jayden.

I noticed earlier this season that when I saw him they seemed to have compacted his motion a bit.

Guys, especially QBs, don't transfer to be backups.

Our 3rd guy this year is a freshman. It could be that way next year too.
