Lots of freaking out with the interior dl spot but it’s just a 1 -2 man position. With all the shakeup going on in college football you would think we could add 2-5 more sec quality guys between now and spring. Add 2 more dts a db or 2 and a good wr if one becomes available and we should be able to rock next year with good coaching. I think they will figure it out.

I really like the liberty wr that visited. I think he can play in the SEC.

I hate to keep being a "Debbie Downer" but LSU is already over the 85 limit with current attrition accounted for. Someone needs to explain how in the world LSU can take multiple players here, a player at that position, one over there, etc. Sure there will be a handful of players leaving before fall, but you risk getting a really obvious, bad reputation for dumping kids off of scholarships. IMO, there should NO MORE "depth" scholarships offers but only to those who have legitimate potential to start.

Several high level players may get us over the hump.

We take players we need and then we tell other players that maybe haven’t worked out to get in the portal and find a new home. It’s not a pleasant process but it is necessary if you want to be competitive.

I believe We also don’t have to be at 85 until the fall. We can go into spring with more than 85.

Maybe pre open transfer portal this was true but in todays college football it’s common practice.

I have 2 names I see leaving in spring they wasn't freshman either. It will be a few players asked to look around scholarships are year to year. Whoever it is leaving I wish them the best and it's nothing personal. Welcome to new NIL era of football produce or coaches will ask for the spot.

I performed a level 2 out of 10 melt when we got low on DT/NG and realized that I need to take my own advice and chill……practice what I preach.

BK takes his time and this ain’t his first rodeo.

You answered your own question. There are guys on the team that will be either leave on their own accord and probably a couple more that will be encouraged to do so. It's part of the game now.

Also adding a DT or 2 should not cause too much of a wrinkle with the numbers because BK didn't expect both Wingo and Smith to go pro.

To you and the other responders, good civil responses and I appreciate that...gave upvotes to all of you. Of course, my post was a butterfly net for downvotes which is OK too. And to one responder, I used the word attrition...to another I could name a couple of names also which would be expected to be gone.

To you specifically, yes, fall is the 85 measuring stick. And I agree the standards have changed with the transfer portal usage. BUT I still maintain that if ANY school abuses the "processing" system which we know has always existed, that school WILL pay a price in the future. I will promise you that.

I stick with my main opinion. ONLY get players who have the real potential to start...especially in the secondary where we have like 165 players now. Same with WRers... DT is the main position to worry about IMO. Anyway, good responses by everyone!

Even if we take several more players this cycle, we still will not have 85 on campus in the spring since not all of the recent signees will enroll early (only 13 or 14 of the 29 HS signees are EEs). Which will allow for natural attrition due to competition after the spring camp. The players who enroll in June will be on scholarship in June and by that point we should be at or near the 85 limit. There is no need to sweat about this.

We lost 13 to portal already, and haven't added all of those back. We've sent some to the draft and got some recruits. We're really close. It's not like we have to dump 10 guys to have room.

My last count came up with 88, so yes we are close.

It’s pretty easy whether we like it or not. With players being able to make demands with NIL and coaches making mega million contracts each year college football has become more cutthroat than ever. The four year scholarship as we knew it before NIL is not like it used to be. College football is like the G league in the NBA these days with coaches trying to better their teams each year. NIL has ruined the college football landscape as we knew it before NIL. I wouldn’t want to be a coach that has to tell a player it’s time for them to look elsewhere for playing time because of roster numbers

Also , with a new coach coming in and everyone having to learn a new system, the playing field is leveled tremendously. What a great time for a kid to come in with a clean slate and a fair shot to compete with new coaches.

With players getting their way with NIL, I think colleges should be able to process out dead weight every semester.

You process them. Have you learned nothing form watching Sabans run?
