I don’t recall the kids being criticized as much as the program being criticized for losing kids to teams out of state, especially Alabama.

Really? I remember many people calling them traitors and telling them not to come back to Louisiana.

He could get more national exposure and be a big name if he came to LSU. Could cost him millions in a future draft by going to SC

Yeah going to SC over a national title contender really killed Jadeveon Clowney’s draft stock too. Oh wait...

I don’t think those people represent the majority of LSU fans. But whatever.

The dude will be fine wherever he ends up. Going to South Carolina vs LSU won't impact his draft stock.

That is the most ignorant statement I've read today. Which is an accomplishment.

Yeah, that is pretty dumb. It could definitely effect his draft stock depending on where he chooses to play in college. It definitely can make a difference in development, exposure, and other factors that go into being a top draft prospect one day. LSU leads south Carolina in every damn aspect of a program, which is why its a difficult decision for Burch I'm sure. He has to know that coming to LSU would set him up better for his future as a pro football prospect then going to South carolina ffs. It doesn't take a genius to figure that out.

It's a little hyperbole but not entirely wrong either. Talent tends to send these guys to the NFL regardless but if you get better coaching it can definitely mold them better for the NFL to make a lot more money too being a higher draft pick. Someone like Clowney was going to succeed anywhere and those are rare types of talent.

Do you guys follow the nfl draft at all? They don’t care how good your team is. If you’re the best player on a bad team or a great player on a playoff team doesn’t mean shite.

Just last year guys from Houston, Iowa, Kentucky and duke went in the top 10

He signed in 2011. They were 9-5 in 2010 and 7-6 in both 2009 and 2008. While they were better then than they are now, calling them a “national title contender” when Clowney chose them is a bit of a stretch.

The Clowney comparison is way off base. South Carolina was coming off a 9 win season and an SEC title game berth when he went there. They were pretty clearly a team on the rise and Spurrier wasn't in danger of being fired the next year.

The more accurate comp would be Faulk coming to LSU in 1995 after we went 4-7 in 1994, but even that's not a very good comparison. Dinardo had just been hired, was bringing a fresh energy to the program and Faulk knew he would probably be the coach the entire time he was at LSU.

That's not nearly what Burch is facing. He's being looked at as a guy who can turn a program around, like Faulk, but also a guy who's going to have to save his coach's job. I can't think of another guy who's stepped into this sort of situation. He's going to be under a tremendous amount of pressure to produce and produce early.

I said when he was there. They went 11-2, 11-2, and 11-2 while he was there.

Haven't replaced Meatball with anyone meaningful yet and that's a big loss recruiting wise.

Other than Chaisson in the 2017 class (with a ton of help from O), Meatball has finished second for every big recruit. Stop acting like he had 5 stars lined up.

Of course he recruits because he has to. That doesn't mean he's a good recruiter or he does more than the bare minimum.

You also have no basis to say he doesn't do more than the bare minimum. The guy wasn't even on staff until we were in fall camp so it's not like we have really seen him in a full recruiting period. You just don't like that hes older and looks like a goober so you are making shite up to "prove" your point.

Are you trying to say that guys don't get to the NFL from USCe?

They will have a 1st round DL drafted THIS upcoming draft in Kinlaw....

Not necessarily. You can't think of scenarios that would cause a talented kid's NFL draft stock to fall based on the team he selected? Statements like this make it sound like HS recruits are finished products and there are no variables in their development.

What if a player gets shitty coaching in college?
Develops poor technique.
Get's double-teamed every play and doesn't produce.
Loses a shite ton of games and gets beaten down his attitude sours.
Goes through a coaching change and he's not a good fit with the new coach.

These are all factors that are somewhat outside of the player's control that could have a significant negative impact on his draft stock.

People keep pointing to Clowney as an example...SC was really freaking good when Clowney was there.

I mean we had 2 players on the team that won the Super Bowl last night that Muschamp coached at Carolina and another on San Fran in Deebo who was also coached by Muschamp. We put players in the NFL. Muschamp may suck as a HC but he does have an impressive track record of still getting his guys into the NFL.
