Upon Analyzing WR vs. DB 1-on-1's at The Opening Finals...

The Opening Finals Summer 2019
(Keep in mind that half of these routes would never be run in a real game. At one point in the video, a WR does a 5-move route that goes for 7 yards... pointless.)
The video contains some LSU commits/signees:
TE- Arik Gilbert
DB-Elias Ricks
LB- Phillip Webb
DB- Lorando Johnson*- still unsure about his future with LSU
WR- Koy Moore
And after watching it, which I encourage you all to do if you haven't already, I realize that Koy Moore is an absolute TECHNICIAN when running routes. Every single route he runs is extremely violent but under control. His moves are crisp and you can tell he's outworking just about every player there.
Arik Gilbert is an absolute freak in the video, and he's going to be so dangerous both out of the backfield attached to the line, and split out as a receiver. He's a complete and utter mismatch against any position.
Elias Ricks shows highly advanced coverage skills, and basically locks up the best receiver in this class, Julian Fleming. Fleming was hand fighting pretty hard and that caused Ricks to lose balance, but watch his recovery. It's astonishing how quickly he gets back in the play.
Phillip Webb shows great recovery as well, and it seems almost effortless to him. He has the potential to be another great coverage linebacker if he keeps at it. His practice reps vs Kole Taylor and Arik Gilbert next year will be crucial.
*Lorando Johnson.... got absolutely COOKED. I won't sugarcoat it at all. He got utterly dumpstered on in just about all of his reps.

I watched Lorando’s film and couldn’t understand why he got an offer.
I thought maybe it was just a bad highlight reel.
One of Koy Moore’s had tons of drops but apparently it was just an anomaly because he gets high praise here.
I trust people that are level headed when giving scouting reports. Not homers.

Ricks was clamping Fleming.

Moore feels criminally underrated
His routes are great, he seems plenty fast and he has good hands. He reminds me a lot of Chase and not just because they’re Rummel guys

Loved Gilbert’s hands. Ball stuck as soon as it hit his fingers.

Burton is a beast
UGA got a good one

You’re getting downvoted because he didn’t come to LSU.
But yeah, that kid will be great.

Observations:
1) our recruits looked really good. Moore runs a great route and Gilbert will be a star.
2) Cartavious Bigsby wins the best name contest.
3) Yes, L. Johnson looked the worst out of all the db's

Like I said before, don’t be surprised to see Koy end up in a JJ type role. Kid just knows how to get open.

Koy Moore is the perfect slot guy. He can get open in a phone booth.

Ricks already has the ability to turn his head and locate the ball!
Aggie Jaylon Jones got ABUSED!

he seems plenty fast
Also, for lots of guys who aren't super duper blue chippers or from families with resources for private coaching/training, speed is something they may have never really trained for. That will not be the case at LSU. We'll get every ounce of his natural athleticism out of him. Wouldn't be surprised to see him (and others) looking like a totally different caliber of athlete out there in a year or two.
