Underwood switching hurts, but may be a blessing in the long run!

If you look at the tape, it's clear Underwood is very talented and he's the rave of this year's recruiting class, but he's not the first ultra-talented high school QB to be called a can't miss prospect, but rarely do they ever live up to the hype.
I think LSU made a very strong and fair offer, but he decided to take the money and run and I wish he and his family the best. IMO, there is no HS kid worth 5M+, and with the transfer portal, there's a strong likelihood he will end up at another school before it's all over with.
So while this is a tough pill to swallow, maybe remembering that these 5-star QBs recruits were also called can't miss players, will help soften the pain:
Mitch Mustain - if HS players could go straight to the pros, he would have
Ryan Perrilloux - we know the story
Shea Patterson - IMG kid, bounced around a couple of places
Tate Martell - attend several colleges, played TE at Miami
Ron Powlus - Beano Cook said he would win several Heismans
Arch Manning - still a backup at UT
Non-QB player
Arik Gilbert - highest rated TE recruit ever, probably locked up now!
(had to throw that in because kid had so much talent

LSU should sign a 2 star qb because Justin Jefferson

Dude….we lost a program changing recruit. This is not a blessing. Love the positivity but this ain’t the time.

Gunner Kiel was the #1 player in the nation on Scout and Rivals.

It’s a bigger deal bc there’s no one else lined up. There’s nothing in the pipeline at QB. Best we can hope for is to catch lightning in a bottle for the third time in a row with a transfer qb. Unlikely

Bryce Young, Caleb Williams, CJ Stroud, Drake Maye…want more?
Underwood was the crown jewel of this year’s class and BK couldn’t close. Losing him is a total fricking debacle for lots of reasons, not the least of which is that this program feels like it’s slipping backwards after this month’s showing.
This is a huge loss and there’s no other way to frame it. Although LSU can shite can Sloan pretty much whenever now. So there’s your silver lining

What a really uninformed take. This QB, is gonna be a star. If it makes you feel better, great, but you are one HUNDRED percent off. BK REALLY F’d this up, and Dave Portnoy got his wish. I hope the Michigan sanctions hurt and I hope that Underwood gets sacked hard and often.

Apparently, you don't follow recruiting closely because for every 5-star that lives up to their billing, there are 50 so-called "can't miss" prospects that are colossal failures.
Underwood may have a great career at Michigan, but I also wouldn't be surprised if he's battling for a backup spot at Toledo in a couple of years. The reality is he's a 17-year-old kid with a lot of potential, but college football is a different game all together.
Remember these names?
Arch Manning - No. 1 QB in country, was going to revive Texas football and two years later is still a backup
Julian Sayin - No. 1 QB, destined to be the next great Alabama QB, signs with Tide and three weeks later he's a member of the Ohio State football team.

Haha are you trying to spin this into Arch Manning being a bust?

Acting like Arch Manning is a failure at this point is not a good look for you or the points you’re trying to make

It’s an optics loss more than an on-field loss, most likely.
The list of QBs like Maye, Young, Stroud and Williams won a grand total of nothing in College. And then there’s the group that didn’t pan out at all.
The most likely scenario is probably that Underwood pops next year, is elite by year 3, and doesn’t win a national title before being a first round pick.
Wonderful for him, clearly not a bust, but not really something that raises the program’s level or profile.
Just look at Raiola and Lagway. You cant expect much more than that in year 1, and then you’re already a third of the way through his time in college.
Since Lawrence in 2018, no underclassman has won a title, while multiple have been won by transfers. That trend doesn’t look to break in 2024.

I’ll take who is Colin Hurley for $500 Alex.
That kid was going to be top 10 QB this class right up there with the rest if he didn’t reclassify

As others posted, now do the successes. It's a half brained argument. You may be right you may be wrong. Deciding you are right while only using the half of information that fits your argument is intentional and misguided. See the political and societal landscape in this country. All sides only use the the favorable information and conveniently/intentionally leave out the unfavorable. That's not how debates were meant to be had. There are no longer any impartial debators. Hence, the situation we are all living in. It's not good, everyone knows it and yet still pretend it is. It's delusion or outright lying to yourself.

Manning was the No. 1 player in the country and has sat on the bench for two years and has been unable to beat out Ewers. Since you're so confident that Manning is not a bust, please list his accomplishments at Texas up to this point.
Just because his last name in Manning, doesn't make him a success. Can he become a great QB? Absolutely, but up to this point, he's nothing more than the first string clipboard carrier!

How is Hurley looked at practice? Any sauces
Posted on 11/22/24 at 12:48 pm to SwampyWaters
I mean that’s my point. He’s been behind a veteran former #1 QB in the country that had lead his team to the playoffs. Thats not called being a bust. Joe Burrow is one of the best college football QB’s of all time and he got beat out by multiple guys.

FWIW Ohio St stopped recruiting Underwood last year to go all in on an unknown 3 star named St Clair.

Who is rated above BU on Rivals, so he's the highest of five stars in some minds.

Yeah many consider him to be the best prospect of this class. If a kid wants to go to a bad situation (position wise) for $$$$$ then so be it. It is better to spend big money on proven players (transfers).
