We still get Houston and east Texas. Add that with 12 in state dudes and we are fine.

You don’t think it hurts Ark and Mizzou as much as LSU?

I’ll get this out of the way. I know that many of you think that the portal makes conventional recruiting a thing of the past, but it still remains the backbone of any successful program.

I used to be on the fence for the most part about TX and OU joining the SEC. Sure, I had reservations about scheduling and some other obvious stuff. Lately, I’ve been really worried about recruiting.

Texas has always been a fertile recruiting ground for LSU all the way to Dallas. When A&M joined the conference, LSU was still very successful in recruiting the state because of its size and high number of recruits. Before, LSU could use the SEC argument against OU and TX all the way to Dallas, which is where OU and TX are really active.

These kids who want to play in the SEC now have more options and closer to home, rather than the B12. I hope I’m wrong, but seeing these battles (Colin Simmons, Caden Durham, others), as well as battles with A&M for the big fish, looks like the state of things to come.

Time will tell whether I’m wrong

Here is a thought, BEAT THEM. OR Do you know how many LSU alumns are in the Metro Houston area? Most of these local prospects are from Louisiana or moved to Houston due to Katrina. That's what Harold Perkins did. His family moved to Houston from NOLA. Same for Noah Cain.

I’d argue that it hurts Arky and A&M more.

I've posted this a few times on here before: I live in VB,VA and CONSTANTLY get an "elllessssuuuu!!" from young black males (the exact demographic we want) when I wear my LSU polos or hoodies around town.

The LSU brand is STRONG, and it's nationwide. Our last 2 coaches were absolute VILLAGE IDIOTS, and they both won titles. We have a professional running the program now. We'll be fine.

I understand your point. I agree that it will increase the difficulty for an already difficult Dallas area. But I think it doesn’t hurt as much in the Houston area and likely hurts A&M there.

Winning will cure most of the edge they get.

So, you mean TAMU right? Looks like you had typos where you meant TAMU and not LSU.

Don't those guys recruit Texas and La now? So what?

Texas is soft as cotten.

Oklahoma hasn't had a defense since Stoops left

Oklahoma and Texas joining the SEC might hurt themselves further…considering their lack of results outside the conference over the past decade. Seen OU play SEC teams in the playoff? They’re both middle of the pack teams in the SEC, it’ll ultimately hurt them. The coaching and development remains to be seen, but both coaches are in make or break seasons. LSU will be just fine in Texas, as they always have. Coach Kelly and staff are methodical, Texas as a recruiting ground, won’t be lost or diminished due to two overrated and middle tier programs (in the SEC realm), joining. Certainly a reach.

UT has already been recruiting at a high level. Are we pretending they weren't? Not much changes.

Beat Saban three in a row and they'll be pounding on the door to play for coach Kelly.

LSU has always done well in recruiting, that won’t stop. You should follow recruiting more. We had two bookend La. recruits starting at OT last year. What state did they come from? The top high school recruit in the 2023 class, was an OT, what state did he come from?
LSU class is around 50% Louisiana kids, that’s almost every year. Over 300 kids from Texas sign football scholarships every year. There is more talent within a 100 mile radius of Houston, than the entire state of Louisiana.
Kelly has been known to find talent, player development are two things he’s the best at!

You act like TX and OU aren't signing top 10 classes routinely for the last 20 years

Texass $ + Aggie $ = waaaay more money than most other schools that depend on getting some elite talent from Texas

Mainly LSU, Arkansas, and, to some extent, Oklahoma
