Posters on the Memphis Board are saying LSU has agreed to take on Tre Mitchell and his step dad who is an assistant coach. They're saying it wont be official until early June.

1. How would posters on a MEMPHIS board know this?
2. Who is Wade going to replace on staff to bring in the step-father? Armstrong (who acts as a second HC)? Nickleberry (big ties to Virginia/metro DC basketball)? Tasmin?
3. The rule is that you can't hire a family member to some BS admin position if you are trying to sign their son. If you bring on the family member it has to be as one of the three assistant coaches. Admittedly, I don't know how that works with transfers?
There is no question he is a solid player in more of the Trendon Watford mold (6'9" below-the-rim guy with offensive skill). But I'm not quite sure he's good enough to bring his step father (former HS coach in CT) along as an assistant coach and I don't know that with the transfer of Eason LSU is looking quite as hard at another PF. Or at least hard enough to necessitate a "package deal". I think they are really pushing for veteran backcourt player to join Pinson.
I think he's likely a take if the "package deal" puts his stepfather in some "director of operations...." type of role (i.e. recruit northeast talent). But I don't think Wade is desperate enough to bring him on as a full time assistant

Is he officially his stepfather, or is he and the mother just dating?

It appears he his engaged to Mitchell's mother. Also, he coached Mitchell in HS. UMass hired him as an assistant, that's almost assuredly why Mitchell went there as opposed to some bigger names that offered.
From all indications it appears like the two are a package deal (or at least want to be). I just can't see Wade booting one of his three assistants to essentially land a good, but not transcendent player. But maybe he doesn't have to in a transfer scenario vs a HS recruitment?
The only certainty during this who "transfer recruitment" period is to kind of expect the unexpected. Pinson left Mizzou. You didn't really hear much, if anything, about LSU until the day he was deciding between LSU and Kansas. The kid from Cincinnati came out of nowhere. I don't think many had even heard his name, let alone that he had any interest in LSU. If recent history is any indicator the next transfer will be someone we haven't even seen discussed here.

It's possible the OP meant the U Mass board but it's not like other boards don't discuss other teams. The Memphis fans could have been discussing Tre to Memphis and someone mentioned this rumor of Tre to LSU on their board.

We have analyst positions galore.
This guy isn't a familial relation, as I understand it, so there's nothing that would bar us from doing this.
The question is whether we would do Mitchell and Reid both, and/or which one would be a safety valve for the other. The way I understand it Adam Miller and TyTy Washington are an either/or proposition for us.
I'll take any combination of Reid/Mitchell and Miller/Washington. Pull two of those four and it's Wade's best team, with or without Days coming back.

This should be looked at as building a deep team. You can't play in the NCAA tournament with only 8 players and successfully get to the final four. You should have at least 10 that can play.
Here's highlights of Mitchell. He's better than Watford, IMO. He seems to have a full arsenal of attack points and can finish strong at the rim. Watford wouldn't dunk if his life depended on it in college. This led to shots being blocked without drawing the foul.
This guy has a post game and can hit face-up jumpers. He can attack from seemingly everywhere.
Tre Mitchell

You might want to let Baylor and Gonzaga know that seeing how both played essentially 7 and 8 man rotations. Absent garbage time Baylor played 8 guys in the NC game. Gonzaga played 7. Most teams play about core 8 (sometimes 9) man rotation.

You're right about the core, but LSU had essentially 5-6 core players truly contributing rebounds and points. The other 2-3 hardly produced throughout the season. The point is that has to change.

You take Mitchell over reid.
I think wade realized he can just reload each year if need be with transfers

If he’s not married to the mom, then they aren’t related.
Admin position would work.
