You just never know what got some of these guys into the portal in the first place. Some of these guys have a destination before they enter the portal, like I’m assuming Wingo does.

Preemptively melting again, I see. You are nothing if not extremely predictable.

For any of you getting ready to queue up behind this iceberg in the sun, can you at least wait until the dead period is over and we can get some of the new staff’s high priority portal guys on campus before you start up the waterworks? Is that too much to ask before this shite gets going again?

The one guy in the portal who the staff has made a priority and brought in for a visit is signed and done. He was a guy we had to have and the staff got him up against a lot of strong competition. Let’s just see what happens when we can roll out the red carpet for these guys and get them on campus, especially with a full staff now in place (I assume WR will be filled by Tuesday). The best players hitting the portal aren’t making snap decisions during the dead period. Top guys don’t have to scramble for a landing spot right now. Most of the best to come likely aren’t even in the portal yet.

And that brings up another point. Keep in mind that the staff won’t really know where the roster will stand until after spring practice. They haven’t even gotten past the first wave of portal guys leaving or final draft decisions yet. We need OL, TE and CBs no matter what, but everything else is still in flux right now. At least a few more guys will leave, changing our biggest needs, and there will be another wave of players in the portal in spring to replace them with. There are going to be several spots held open to handle this. We only have so many, so there’s no room to waste any now.

So maybe a DL from Hawaii isn’t really the answer right now, especially if we are moving to playing more 3 man fronts, which House’s history suggests. And if we are taking a DL, maybe just maybe a Freshman All-SEC guy with ties to a staff member is just a bit better. And maybe we can do better than some G5 WRs who would likely be nothing but depth here. Maybe this staff actually knows what the frick they are doing. How about we wait on the proof? Everyone who impatiently melted over hires, saying that Kelly would botch multiple positions or not properly address recruiting with his staff has been proven wrong with time. Let’s see how this roster looks on May 1st before jumping off a cliff.

Looks like auburn dB Eric Reed has also entered portal. I know its becoming cliché with the offer all louisiana guys but seeing as we need a ton of depth why not
