This used to be one of the best days of the year

Well specifically when it was one day.
The first Wednesday in February. I used to take that day off

Shout out to the old times. Tigerbait.com before Mike stopped caring. Young Sonny making his mark with Scout.com. The recruiting bash downtown with the GBFTL.

Before social media did what it does to everything.

You know who you are

We were the greatest generation of recruiting dorks. It was literally a year round obsession. Now it's whatever, but is what it is

Early signing day waters the whole thing down and now it really doesn't matter since everyone can transfer.

All early signing day really did was move up that February date. Also, social media has helped improve this process by getting information out quicker. It also helps make it more entertaining with more speculation from random twitter handles

It is a great day for 80% of HS recruits. This day can change so many lives for the better. And This benefits the student athletes so Im in favor of it. Just like the new transfer rules favors the athletes so I am in favor of it

100% agreed. The good news is it appears the early signing period is going away or moving to January according to an SI article Delly posted the other day.

So we might get our tradition back.

Not too many things better than taking a Wednesday off to go eat and drink unlimited jambalaya and beer while celebrating the Tigers signing class.

Yep. Was like a holiday. The all-day long coverage. The unexpected big last minute commits. Just a fun day even with the few disappointments. Something to look forward to.

But you knew once that class was signed they were Tigers not just for 3-4 years but for life.

I remember the first recruiting bash, got to meet Dinardo. That guy did bring the magic back as far as LSU recruiting excitement.
I can remember looking at all the guys in Tiger Rag and Deep South

I’ll never forget when Sam Montgomery picked the good guys.
That was one of my favorite surprises.

This is the deadest ESD I can remember. I think 15 is the max I see signing today. NIL and portal is destroying CFB and the SEC. La. used to be a nice recruiting territory. Build a fence around it and you win games. The new recruiting territory is NIL $$$. We don't seem to have much. UT and A&M will dominate under the new shift. We will be the new runt.

Me and all my buddies used to take the day off and go down there and have a free drinking day. Was a damn strong feeling.

Agreed. National signing day used to be a lot of fun. Now I don’t even care.

Just another step toward turning college football into the NFL minor league.

Kwon picking LSU was another I was jacked about.
I thought we were getting the safety from Oxford too that year.

How, exactly? That’s not rhetorical, I honestly don’t know what the compelling argument is for it. I think I can make a pretty good argument it’s worse for the student athletes.

Remember all the drama with Deangelo Benton and Reuben Randle.

I thought they both were going to be incredible at LSU together.
Loved Reuben as a Tiger!
