a lot of truth in your post - sign the best recruits that want to become part of your program and not flip at the last minute.

All that needs to be said

I mean he is a freshman playing in the SEC West. I don't think you can dismiss him as terrible especially in a BS Covid year.

He was processed but I think he will be a good player for OM.

I doubt this is true. Clark played fine the year before at LB. You could tell Pellini is the reason he stunk it up last year. Pellini has always been an awful LB coach even his first tenure here I don't care what anyone says. When they announced him as DC last year and let him "be the LB coach" I knew that was going to be a disaster...and it was. All our LBs regressed.

LSU had the title run and then we had a real shot at some monsters so unfortunately some kids were cut. We processed guys like Alec Bryant, Jalen Lee, Major Burns and Demon Clooney

Here’s the thing for the sensitive types- Saban has been doing this for decades.

Happens at the prom all the time.

It's weird to me that people can know enough about LSU recruiting to start a thread like this but not enough to get the name right. Or at least google this shite.

LSU pulled a classless move but the die hard will push a narrative to support LSU

It’s a business. LSU made a business decision.

You don’t have to like it to acknowledge it. This is what the game is and it’s moving waaaaay further in that direction.

IMHOO - We should treat Louisiana recruits with more respect. If you are not willing to take him as part of the class, then don’t offer and/or accept his commitment. Just my opinion!

If this doc says otherwise, it's full of shite.

Full of shite or not, it was a bad look. Then they followed it up with Saban on a visit to the school. The coaches mentioned not letting LSU on campus again. With the talent they are pumping out, I hope that isn’t the case.

From his bio....

Clowney is a 6-foot-4, 220-pound defensive end out of St. Frances Academy in Baltimore.

Clowney was NOT a Louisiana recruit........

The staff processed him and kept Eric Taylor, who has since entered the portal. That was a head scratcher.

Too much time staff spent recruiting these players form Maryland not one has done anything as of yet
Passed on some decent LA prospects instead

Well, that area of Maryland is also going to get you into those big Virginia school districts. See Tristan Leigh.

Yes we've not reeled in several and picked up a couple (Toles).

Such is how pipelines are built. You keep plugging away and eventually you reel in a couple, get better exposure in the area, then reel in a couple more... then, over time, you get a pipeline established.

No you can't do it all over the country. But if you look at the lay of the land in that area it is logical to target the area.

- some of the biggest school districts in the country

- except for Clemson we're not competing against the same level (recruiting wise) competition as we do in SEC states. Going against Syracuse or Maryland vs. Bama or UF is way different.

- pound for pound you will find more "want to go out of state" recruits, for a variety of socioeconomic reasons.

- In the short term we have ambassadors up there in Chark & Queen.

- they have positions we aren't producing enough of locally. Can't gripe about recruiting in Maryland/Virginia or S Cal on one hand then gripe about 3* OL on the other. One could scream "but Texas", but the competition is fierce there and only going to get worse. Hence the whole idea of strategically chosen new pipelines.

Yeah, we're missing something or doing something wrong up there. But you don't want to get into the Wylie Coyote syndrome where if something doesn't work the first time you completely scrap it and go shopping at Acme. You want to figure it out and adjust. Again, it's a specifically targeted area for specific reasons. Be judicious with your resources, which they are but need to adjust, but it is worth doing.

You’ll never get every good player in the state and you’ll never hit on every guy in the class. If LSU is going to be an elite program consistently, they’ll have to recruit nationally and grow the brand. With that, you have to build relationships all over the country. Look at the pipeline we have built at St Thomas Aquinas in FL.

You can’t just count on LA or all we’ll have is DB’s, WR’s, and RB’s.
