I also conceded that your culture will make up some of the money difference. For example, Texas dropped out of the Perkins sweepstakes bc we knew in the end LSU was where he wanted to be and we werent going to outbid A&M. LSU still ponied up enough to land him even though A&M wouldnt be outbid. I'm fully aware there arent that many programs in the country that have the ability to pony up when needed, and LSU is one of them.

My basic feeling is the developing NIL environment is a net negative for LSU as it relates to having a talent advantage over other rosters from big schools. I expect LSU to continue to compete at a high level, but I don't think yall will have the ability to stack elite talent the way yall have in the past and the way you did in that last run. I think thats generally true for everyone, but I think LSU will get hit harder now that NIL has made it more difficult to lock down the state.

We have barely had enough committed $$$ to throw at in state kids since Mack left, and those were for the kids that already wanted to be at Texas. We have maintained relatively high recruiting rankings because we have loaded up on skill position players.

We havent been able to compete $$$ wise against invading SEC programs and A&M for the players in the trenches. Thats been true up until this NIL stuff. Even then we had to choose where the money goes because we arent working with nearly what people think we are.

There hadnt been a meaningful $$$ push for Louisiana kids in I don’t know how long. Before I followed. We've had some one offs, but even then it was unique situations like Shiro Davis. Shreveport is obviously a different animal. Who else have we made yall sweat for before the NIL era? Derek Williams was a big deal to us because in the past we don’t even come close to getting that kid.

It's true. Texas bag money has had to be placed extremely carefully because our own administration would turn us in. Our most generous sources were big time Mack guys that were furious we fired him, and they were on the older side and werent interested in starting all over again. They felt like theyd made their contribution, and they had.

Plus, good luck getting people to invest under Charlie Strong. I really thought we were going to turn a corner on that stuff under Herman, but the guy was a complete shitshow wildcard that instilled the opposite of confidence in people wanting to know there was a safe and discreet way to get involved.
