I don't disagree with you in general, but there's obviously a bunch of stuff most of us never see like their relationships with players and how they coach during practices. If they see potential in steeples then maybe they fire cooks and bring in a coach that can help mentor steeples to his potential.
I think there has to be a balance on the continuity side as well. Hiring and firing all our secondary coaches in year 2 might raise more red flags.
Again, all speculation from me looking from the outside in. Will be interesting to see what coaching changes are made at year end, if any.

Every DB they got in the portal in 2023 had at least two years of eligibility left. The issue is they either didn't hit, had injuries or discipline problems.
In 2022 they almost all hit, but most only had a year left.
Zy and JK Johnson should be back. Denver and Duce, likely not.
Certainly want to build through high school, but that doesn't mean the portal is not on the table. Even teams with well-established coaches that aren't cleaning up messes from previous regimes are using the portal. Except Dabo, of course.

This is getting ridiculous. We better have some changes in the secondary coaches following this year. The play on the field and recruiting has been abysmal

They can replace him, sure. Problem is, can they replace him with a player of better or equal quality? Lots of those off the board.
And for those who say Bussey - he just doesn’t have the length and other attributes that make Cai Bates a valuable corner.

Replacing a lost player with another player that's just as good is the challenge.
Bates is a Top 100 CB. Are we going to replace him with another Top 100 CB?

Replacing our 2 highest rated CB’s with 3 star players isn’t gonna get very many of us excited. LSU is about to have 1 cb committed that is ranked inside the top 100 cb’s in the country. Uga gonna have 4 of the top 20 yet BK said we’re supposed to be catching then through recruiting

Bro this what I been saying. Both those corner commits were close to Steeples. I think the writing is on the wall that BK told him he’s being replaced lol. Maybe they told the recruits that as well and they started to look around.

This seems illogical. You're saying both these players were really close to steeples, but Kelly has already decided to fire him even though our defense has improved over the season, we still have something to play for, and both these high rated recruits are close to steeples?
Then Kelly went and told recruits about a future firing of a coach they are both close with? Why would Kelly do that? What's the benefit to doing that?
Why not wait until you have a better coach lined up to replace steeples before notifying recruits if that's true? Also, why would you tell a current coach he is going to be fired mid season when you still have a shot at SEC West champs again?

Yea that doesn’t make sense. If he was recruiting well but they wanted to go a different direction they’d do it after signing day
