I have come to know Colin Hurley over the past 4+ years as the one who handles his sports performance, skill acquisition, skill development, re/pre-hab, and throwing progression/development. Colin has consistently trained with me 3-5x weekly over the past 4 years without ever missing extended training time, and for that matter missing even a training session. Along with his training demands he has also demonstrated a consistently high work ethic in school, attention to detail with his nutritional programming, and focus on his recovery modalities. For all intents and purposes, Colin has treated himself like a professional athlete from the time he was essentially 11 or 12 years old. This is with great guidance from his family and support from both his mother and father; and with that support it has allowed myself a great deal of freedom and autonomy to challenge Colin at the highest level.

This is the kind of high performance, high character player that Brian Kelly builds his programs with.

That's one example of how it could go. Hopefully he doesn't have the huge character and daddy flaws.
Have to hope the kid isn't maxed when he gets here and that he can truly handle the pressure he and those around him are putting on him. If he passes those he seems like the perfect QB

Marinovich was pushed externally, this kid seems to be very internally motivated. Huge, huge difference.

Hurley is not really unique in this way. Marinovich was back in the day, for sure. But a bunch of QBs are groomed like this from a very, very young age.

This, plus his statement when he committed, makes me realize we have a mature winner coming in.

What an awesome sounding kid.

He's also not the type of kid to make this decision lightly, and I would put money down that he honors his commitment.

Nah.

Isn't his mom in the military?

Sounds like a good sense of discipline and self-sacrifice.

He sees it first hand in his mom.

Could mean we are getting a kid thats locked in and willing to do whatever it takes to be the best!

Could also mean this kid will burn out cuz his parents treated him like a commodity since he was 11 years old. Sent him to specialist coaches 3-5 times a week and forced a strict diet on him to raise his value.

Not being trained by his father.

Btw to get a kid playing time at a high level in high school in any of the major sports. you have start training and have a good trainer very early.

Baseball starts before 11.

Marinovich didn't really want to play football. Big difference.
