Guess the young guys saw what Michigan offered their 5 star QB and they all figured they accepted too little the first time around and want to try again.....
CFB is an absolute shite show.

Indeed it is. It’s not even fun anymore. Can’t get even get excited anymore after the season is over because half of the young up and coming talent that you thought would show out the following year goes into the portal for any little stupid reason. There is no way you can keep continuity or depth with the transfer portal shite show going on now.

This is why they need to reinstall the sitting out for a year if they wish to transfer unless they go 1-AA...

Yes these NIL deals are inherently stupid, as is making a contract with a 17-18 year old. Not aligned with playing or performance, so they will bounce around looking to be rewarded for their name and likeness until it’s not worth anything anymore.

And people cheered for this. Doesn’t do a damn thing for those that made the sport popular in the first place, and now we leaped all the way to kids that dgaf about playing, much less what team they play for.

I have no intention to attend another game unless it lines up with a social activity planned.

I may be in the super minority here, but I don't see an issue with the kids in the portal. These kids live in a time, where they play on different AAU and 7on7 teams each year in basketball and football. I think we will start to see some of the smoke clear on who we are close with after this weekend.

no there isn't. Those stars ranking from 1,2,3 years ago mean nothing now unless they actually have proved it on the field

Absolutely. This is the biggest problem in college football. The market will level off but just jumping ship every year makes it all a shite show. How schools aren’t making these paid athletes sign contracts is beyond me.

At first, I was against guys having to sit out for FBS transfers (coaches can leave on a yearly basis and don't have to sit out a year from coaching) but of course it has now turned ridiculous in the amount of turnover. But the problem in reinstating the rule would be a legal one I'm guessing. The only reason the NFL and MLB get away with their extensive rules...salary cap/luxury tax, slotted money for 1st round picks, etc is that they have anti-trust exemptions. Everyone blames the NCAA for loss of control of the sport but every time they go to court, they lose. For example trying to rein in salaries or even keeping players from jumping college...and yes essentially they ARE salaries despite not technically being "employees" because clearly this is PAY FOR PLAY not NIL..is the court would consider that "restraint of trade".

I wonder the flip side of things.... Can you imagine the applied pressure on 17-18 year olds to perform and live up to the exorbitant NIL deals they are signing?
It goes past the love of the game, school and comraderie with teammates to a high-stakes business where your talent better deliver repeatedly and failure is not a teaching tool for life, but a referendum on whether a player was worth the absurd investment.

Can you imagine the "pep talks" being given to players who make mistakes?
Can easily see a conversation where a coach blatantly states, "Wtf was that "player X", you better do your f@ckin job for what your being paid or I'll cut your arse and find someone else worth the money."

And to add having to, oh wait, actually give adequate attention to what your "primary" purpose for being in said situation, attaining a college education and graduating with respectable grades, the enormity of it all can and regretfully WILL lead to examples of "unfortunate circumstances."
I can easily see a player succumbing to the unrelenting pressure and expectation and doing something drastic, like $u!cide..... I hope there is the eventual recognition that a mental health specialist and/or Sports psychologists/psychiatrist are employed by the team to help players navigate such a treacherous ordeal.

That's a shitty rule too though. There's gotta be some middle ground.

How it is now is insane and has just become a free agency market every year.

But there should be a better system for kids who realize where they want his not for them (for whatever reason) and would like to try somewhere else.

That is literally the only chance at middle ground now. Losing that and the NIL craze together with ZERO contracts is something a mad scientist or retarded person would have come up with.
