You know, despite how you feel about his performance, he stayed here and tried his best. Should he be glorified? No. But Sage is a damn Tiger and wanted to be here. He wasn’t the best but it could’ve been a lot worse. I hope he’s successful wherever he lands. I think ULL would be perfect for him going back home.

I know this is the narrative here, but the guy had some pretty serviceable snaps this season. I would be happy to see him back for depth, but wish him well if he wants to go somewhere and start one more year before he has to get to real life.

Him going into the portal as a 4th year player is all you need to know about his play. If he was any good it would be he's going into the draft.

I wish him well too but he’s not an SEC caliber safety. I don’t hate the kid, he’s just not very good and didn’t live up to his 5* rating. It’s time for new blood in the program.

I'm not going to say Sage was good, but he is definitely a starting caliber SEC safety.
The issue is two fold why people are so down on him.
1. The other 2 safeties were awful this season, Burns and Gilbert. For whatever reason Ryan just gets lobbed in with them. He was much better than either of those guys. He was a solid tackler unlike those 2 and while he made his mistakes, the others made way more.
2. Ryan was a 5-star, and when 5-stars dont go 3 and done and play on a elite level people call them busts. If Ryan was a 3 or 4 star, I bet hardly anyone would be talking down this much on him.
Ryan would have been a valuable piece to the safety room next season, unless we go out and find 2 really good dudes, that room is looking really rough because everyone seems to be leaving it between Burns, Ryan, Allen, Jackson etc...I have no idea what happened with Toviano this year but he should have played more than he did. Doghouse type stuff which is why I'm not sure why he also isnt in the portal.

We kept him in the team and he got pt after some serious allegations. Why would he be upset and go into the portal?

He played 48 snaps this year after playing 302 as a freshman.
Sitting behind Burns watching him play (pretty crappily), on top of that.
There's definitely big time reasons why I would hit the portal if I was him. Thats a huge playing time reduction on top of being stuck behind one of the worst players on defense.

For a guy who put the team before himself for 3 of the 4 years he was here, you guys sure are pretty harsh. Actually, youre not harsh, youre shite fans from a mostly shite fanbase.
No wonder the team doesnt give a frick about the fanbase, if they did they be constantly getting their feelings hurt because so many grown men here say ridiculous shite about their own people.
Nobody tears down LSU and their players like an LSU fan. You people fricking suck. I wish it was the sidewalk portion of the fanbase, but I see just as many graduates be as bad or worse then trolls from other fanbases.
Other fanbases come here after we lose because NOBODY MELTS better than LSU fans. Its fricking embarrassing. You guys are a fricking embarrassment, and should be fricking ashamed of yourselves. Go cheer for Ole Miss and Kiffen, or Bama.

He entered the portal to force more money from LSU last offseason too.

We bag on him a lot, but that dude had to play a position he was not supposed to play for 2 years because we didn't have anyone else.

My last memory of Sage Ryan will be from the Oklahoma game when the Sooners had a medium third down (might have been fourth, but that’s not important. LSU got heat on their QB and he had to get rid of it quick. The pass hit his wide open receiver in the shoulder and fell incomplete because he didn’t have time to get his head around. Sage Ryan comes toward the receiver from three or four yards away talking shite to him like he broke up the pass.
